Authorities are looking for the person who set a mobile speed camera truck on fire this weekend in Fort Dodge.
Cellphone video showed the full force of the flames engulfing the Ford Escape.
“When I got the call that it had been destroyed it was like, ‘Really? Someone would do that?’” Fort Dodge Police Chief Kevin Doty said.
Doty said he’s never seen anything like this and is guessing an angry individual is getting revenge after receiving a ticket.
The fire destroyed the truck and all cameras inside, estimated to be about $40,000 worth of damage.
“I understand that people might not like the fact that they get a citation from the vehicle. But to go to the point of destroying the vehicle just amazed me,” Doty said.
Police are reviewing surveillance video from nearby businesses. The person who set the fire could face arson charges.
