A music fan in Melbourne managed to sneak his way backstage at a gig this week by editing a band's Wikipedia page on his phone. David Spargo was attending a show by Australian duo Peking Duk when he had a "lightbulb-above-the-head kind of moment." After editing Peking Duk's Wikipedia entry to list him under "family," he approached a security guard with his ID, saying he was the step-brother of band member Reuben Styles and producing his phone as proof. "I stood out there for five minutes and I started to think this isn’t going to work," Spargo told The Guardian. "Then Reuben pops his head out and is like, 'hey bro, come on in.'"
Styles and fellow bandmate Adam Hyde were so impressed by the stunt that they didn't bother debunking Spargo's story. The pair told fans what happened on their Facebook page and Twitter yesterday, sharing the story alongside an Anchorman meme with the caption: "Actually, I'm not even mad. That's amazing."

"It was probably the most genius, mastermind move that I’ve ever witnessed," Hyde told The Guardian. "It’s crazy. He just did it on the spot in a second on his phone [...] We ended up having a bunch of beers with him and he was an absolute legend. He wasn’t a creep or anything. He was like the most normal dude we’ve ever met." Spargo said later that he "definitely" didn't think the stunt would work, while Hyde added that it goes to show you should "never trust Wikipedia."
