On the same day that Chicago police officer Jason van Dyke was charged with first-degree murder, the city released shocking dashcam video which shows the bloodthirsty cop ruthlessly gun down 17-year-old Laquan McDonald.
The police union claimed that McDonald lunged at the officers with a knife, but the video clearly demonstrates this to be a lie.
In the video, a patrol car races toward the location where alleged car break-ins were occurring. A police SUV can be seen speeding to get in front of McDonald, who was walking down the street. Van Dyke and his partner exit the vehicle and almost immediately van Dyke begins firing. McDonald made no move toward the cops.
Van Dyke shot the teen 16 times, with nine bullets striking him in the back. He kept firing even after McDonald fell to the ground, twitching as he took his last breaths. Van Dyke started reloading his pistol until another officer told him to hold his fire.
Van Dyke was on scene for no more than 30 seconds, and opened fire on McDonald only six seconds after exiting his patrol car. The teen posed no threat to the cops, and was walking away from van Dyke when he was gunned down.
Cook County States Attorney Anita Alvarez had already made her decision weeks ago to charge van Dyke, but held off until federal authorities completed their investigation.
She described the video as graphic, violent and chilling, saying it no doubt will tear at the hearts of all Chicagoans.
To watch a 17-year-old young man die in such a violent manner is deeply disturbing. The officers actions were not justified and were not a proper use of deadly force, said Alvarez.
This is the first time in nearly 35 years a Chicago cop has been charged with first-degree murder. If convicted, van Dyke will serve a minimum of 20 years in prison.
The officer in this case took a young mans life, and hes going to have to account for his actions, said Superintendent Gary McCarthy. People have a right to be angry, people have a right to protest.
The family of Laquan McDonald has asked that protests remain peaceful, as violence would undermine the progress toward police accountability.
"The deadly incident occurred just before 10 p.m. on Oct. 20, 2014, after police were told that an individual was carrying a knife and breaking into vehicles on Chicagos Southwest Side. Officers also reported that McDonald slashed the tires of a squad car before the shooting occurred."
Laquan had a knife, was high on PCP, and was staggering down the middle of the street. He was told to drop the knife, but didn't. He was shot and it was justified.
That said, after he was no threat, the officer kept shooting, resulting in the first degree murder charge. It may come out, however, that the officer believed Laquan was going for a gun, which would justify the aditional shots.
But the odds of the officer getting a fair trial at this point are about zero.
Obviously, it was suppressed and delayed so Rahm Emmanuel could squeak out a mayoral victory. He looked guilty enough to indict today. I saw some protesters demanding his resignation or recall. I can't blame them. That was a mighty large fact Rahm and the police sat on during that election. You can't help but conclude there was a lot of collusion and deals between Rahm, the police, and the Dem political establishment.

Attaboy!
I knew I could depend on you to defend the POS cop who murdered a man who was walking away from him.

Only in misterwhite Bizarro "police are gods" world would this be considered to be justified.
For the sane people however, there is no other word to describe the cop's actions than calculated, cold blooded murder.

He shot a guy with a knife, a guy who was high on PCP, who refused orders to stop and drop the weapon, and who may have been on his way to injure others.
It was a justified shooting.
Shooting him after he was on the ground may not have been justified. That all depends on what was going through the officer's mind and whether or not the jury agrees.

I guess carrying a knife and breaking into cars was not enough? Flicking the knife open in front of police was not enough?
If he maimed or murdered an officer would that be enough?
The reason they do not want to show the video is because racist criminals will riot and hurt innocent people because they are nothing more than animals looking for an excuse to hurt people and destroy things!
