Calais Jungle migrant camp 'set on fire' after hundreds killed in terror attacks
THE Calais Jungle migrant camp has been set on fire after hundreds of people were killed in terror attacks on Paris, according to reports.
One aid worker said: "The details are sketchy at the moment. What we do know is that a number of people in the camps have been injured and we are trying to find medical care for them."
He added: "The refugees are currently being taken to the Ashram centre and women’s shelters while the fires are being put out."
It comes just days after a French politician branded the camp a "lawless slum" where violence is escalating to the point of "guerrilla warfare".
Republican Eric Ciotti blasted the French government's handling of riots which broke out in the shanty town among migrants desperate to cross the border into England.
Mr Ciotti said Calais had descended into such chaos "guerrilla warfare" was spreading the trouble-hit port town.
The Frenchman also called for demolishment of the migrant camp, which houses more than 6,000 people.
He said: "The risk is now that of guerrilla warfare gradually infiltrating this lawless slum, directly exposing the police who are forced to control a mass of people who dream of reaching England."
It comes as at least 140 people are reported to have been killed and dozens more injured during a series of attacks across Paris.
The two attackers were killed in a police operation to rescue the hostages at the Bataclan theatre, according to French media.
Gunmen reportedly shouted "It's for Syria" and "Allah Akbar" inside the venue, but there has been no official comment on the motive.
The rock band Eagles of Death Metal were performing a sold-out concert at the theatre. It is unclear whether the bandmates – who include Jesse Hughes and Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age – are among the hostages.
An unverified Facebook post said: "There are still survivors inside the Bataclan. They're killing everyone one-by-one."
