A South Carolina officer attacks, slams African-American female student to the ground. Racial tension between police and the African-American community has only increased over the last year. After a video circulated on social media Monday night showing an officer attacking a student, that tension only got worse. An unnamed African-American female was allegedly disturbing class and was asked to leave, when she refused, a school resource officer was called in to help the situation. As local WIS-TV in South Carolina reported on Oct. 26, the officer only made matters worse. In a class room in Spring Valley High School in Columbia, S.C., a typical scene of a student acting out apparently took place. When the student refused, the unnamed Caucasian officer entered the room, grabbing the students arm where he proceeded to slam the girl and her desk to the ground. The video was captured by a fellow classmate that also showed the officer putting the student's arms around her back, positioning her to be arrested. "The student was told she was under arrest for disturbing school and given instructions which she again refused," Sheriff Leon Lott told local WIS-TV. "The video then shows the student resisting and being arrested by the SRO." The officer has since been placed on leave. The video began circulating throughout social media, mostly on Facebook and Twitter, where outrage and debate over proper police procedure took place. I have to wonder why this thug was a cop in a school, given his past. On October 24, 2005, Carlos Martin was returning home from work at the Moncrief Army Community Hospital at Fort Jackson when he saw Deputy Fields driving his patrol car in the parking lot. Responding to a noise complaint, Fields confronted Martin for playing the music in his car too loud and asked if he was the reason for the complaint. As Martin explained that he had just got home from work and had not been there long enough to cause the complaint, Fields apparently snapped when Martin referred to him as “dude.” After slamming Martin to the ground, Fields began kicking him and emptying an entire canister of pepper spray into the soldier’s face. While witnessing the assault, Martin’s then-wife, Tashiana Rogers, ran into the parking lot and began taking photos of the crazed deputy attacking a restrained soldier wearing fatigues. Ordering his partner to “get her black ass,” Fields had the couple arrested and seized her cellphone before deleting the pictures. The schools have been sued into submission. If they touch one of the little darlings, the teacher and/or the school gets sued. The parents have abdicated their responsibility to discipline their kids, and the teachers cannot do anything with a student who defies authority. So they call the cops. Now the cop gets fired. We may be at, or get to, the point where the cop will not physically remove the student, and the teacher will get no teaching done until the student decides to leave.

If I were the cop, I'd ask the kid to leave the room. If they didn't, I would.

This cop did not strike her, did not tase her, did not choke her, did not use a pepper spray, and did not use a water cannon indoors is a crowded classroom, but I am sure the police department will take the latter suggestion under advisement. This sort of crap is happening in grade school, and the teacher cannot do anything physical about it. Some of the grade school kids would just be too big for my niece (a teacher) to handle. Her principal was another lady, her size. In one recalled incident, a grade schooler looked at the cop and said, "I'm not afraid of you. You've got a gun. You're not gonna shoot me. You've got a taser. You're not gonna tase me. You can't do nuthin'." That's where we are at. When the child is taught that there are no consequences, this is what you get.
