One person has been killed and two others wounded in a shooting on the campus of Tennessee State University in Nashville, police have confirmed, while the search for the suspected gunman continues.
The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department have said that the incident on Thursday night, at around 11pm, is believed to have followed a dispute over a dice game in an outdoor courtyard.
According to local media, the victim who died, a 19-year-old male, is said not to have been a student at the university. A spokesman for the police department said students were present, with some recording video.
"There were a number of students who took out their cellphones and began recording as the fight was taking place. We have seen some of that video from cooperating students, obviously people scattered when shots were fired, so we know that there are other students who have video who may have good knowledge of the parties involved in this," said Don Aaron.
Aaron continued: "If we had a good description of the shooter to give you, we would be putting that out. I would also remind you the report of the shots fire was at 10:52 and it was very dark."
The gunshot victims were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, said Tanya Stone, operations supervisor for the Metro Nashville emergency communication center.
The two who survived had injuries not considered life-threatening, the Tennessean newspaper reported.
Last week, three people were shot and wounded during a house party near the university campus.
Thursday's night shooting follows a spate of gun violence near universities and colleges this month. Earlier in October, an 18-year-old student at the Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff was accused of killing one student and injuring three others on campus.
On October 1, nine people were killed at a community college in Oregon — the deadliest among dozens of mass shootings in the US in the past two years.

Hmmmm. There were multiple cell phone videos of the shooter and they got a good description of the shooter,but it was "too dark to identify him".
Seems to me like they have already identified his skin color,but it's not PC to say so.

I don't think Bible thumping has ever slowed gun violence in the entire history of the United States... In fact, Prohibition was largely responsible for the emergence of organized crime... But even before that, there are many other examples.... whether you want to talk about the Hatfields & McCoys or the Kansas/Missouri Range Wars or just routine inner city barroom brawls from NYC to Detroit/Chicago to New Orleans to Dodge City in the Wild, Wild West....

Charter Arms,Rossi,and other revolver manufacturers have all made and sold a 44 Special revolver at one time or another that was named "Bulldog".
I used to own the Charter Arms version in the 70's,and have the Rossi version sitting a few feet away from me right now. I will never sell or trade this one. Taurus bought out Rossi and quit making it in favor of their own 44 Special with a 3 inch barrel that is larger and heavier. The Rossi hasn't been made in decades now,and almost impossible to find to buy. IIRC,I paid about 220 bucks for it new in the box,and wouldn't sell it today for 1,000 bucks. Unbelievably accurate. I shoot running snakes with it.
