I wonder if this was a target personally picked and approved by our CIC? Who sent the crew on the mission? How high up will this go? IMO, the crew that carried out the mission will be hung out to dry as a distraction when the time is right.
Must have been a real 'high value' target in there for this to happen.
From MY POV,if he was that high-value,he was worth sending in a ground team to take him out and verify his death.
There is NO possible excuse to justify bombing a civilian hospital. Period!
Especially not in the technological age we all live in now, where it really is impossible to hide if the government really wants to find you. If they couldn't risk putting a ground team in to take him out while he was a patient or while he was leaving, they could damn sure track him as he is leaving and know where he went.

That goober has trouble picking his nose. Someone else picked the target, and then placed the order in front of him and told him to sign it.

Not if they EVER want to get any other air crew to drop bombs or missiles.
What they MIGHT do is search around for a full Bird or higher that is stuck in career limbo and waiting for retirement day to come, and get him to fall on his sword in exchange for a star at his retirement party.
