On another note...I noticed the Dallas Stars fans filling the stadium seats yesterday. I was not there but the camera pans of the fans showed a few red and blue painted goalie masks:)
Opening night last night for the Stars they shut out the "Guins" (Pittsburgh Penguins) behind goalie Antti Niemi 3-0. Jamie Benn, Ales Hemsky and rookie Matthias Janmark scored for the Stars.

I'll check in from time to time . But wake me up after the Super Bowl . To me that is when the hockey season starts . A couple years ago they had that lock out and the season was only 48 games . To me that was about the right length of the season . Every game was played with more urgency.
Yeah the season does seem to drag on forever, wish it was shorter and/or more condensed...
When I was following the Islanders and they were in 5 consecutive Stanley Cup finals ,they played more than an additional season in playoff games winning 19 consecutive playoff rounds before losing to the Messier and Gretzky Oilers(who then went on the win 5 cups in 7 years ) . Doubt if there will be any more dynasties in the sport . The 4 round playoff format is too grueling .

Now I am going to get dragged into hockey:) Ok I'm game.
Looks like the Stars are accomplishing what they set out to do and that was get off to a fast start, leading the Western Division with 12 points. Benn, Seguin, Spezza, Hemsky, Klingberg (2nd year player) and Janmark (rookie) are leading in the way in points, with Demers and Roussel leading the way in penalty minutes :)... Roussel has the only fighting major so far and seems to be doing a good job of instigating...
The addition of Oduya and the young Dmen being another year older has seemed to do wonders for the Defense which was really weak last year. Also signing Niemi seems to be pushing both goaltenders to be the best they can be if they want playing time...
The only question mark I see so far on the team seems to be Nichushkin, one point and not very many minutes of playing time. Kinda wonder if he's still not quite right after having hip surgery last year, or the addition of Sharp is taking away some of his minutes??? I think he has the potential to score 70-80 points per year but only time will tell. He's big, fast and has very good hands and coordination, you should see one of his bull rushes down the RW... :)
