Setting up this thread to expand the 2015 MLB playoff discussions beyond the Rangers, Yankees and NY Mets (2015 NL Division Champions)

That's right GarySpFc you can posit your Royals stuff here now:)

I was on the fence as a kid . But growing up on Long Island ,and being taken to Shea stadium by my dad and the boy scouts I was inclinded to root for the Mets . Then they made a series of trades that killed my loyalty . The 1st one was trading Amos Otis for Joe Foy. Then they trades Nolan Ryan for Jim Fergosi . The trade that decided it though was moving Tom Seaver to the big Reds machine for a package that included Doug Flynn and Pat Zachary .

I am now going to be a front-runner and jump on the Mets bandwagon. For the most part they are a likable group ;and I'm a big fan of Jacob DeGromm . Yesterday he "struggled" and gave up 2 runs . The best Yankee pitchers gives up that many runs in the 1st inning .

They predicted in the 'Back to the Future' movies that the Cubbies would win the 2015 World Series.

Mets vs Cubs

These teams on paper look pretty even all the way across the board, ERA, BA, HRs etc, etc... So you would think it should end up being a close series with a lot of tight 1-2 run games. And I don't really see one team having the experience factor over the other so to me this is a tossup. It's to bad one of these teams has to lose but that's the way it goes...

Pitching wise the Royals have the match ups if the starters can go 6 innings cause the BP is deep and shutdown capable, which was in evidence last night. I would have to say Royals in 5 maybe 6...

Mets vs Cubs

My mind goes back to Sept 9,1969 . Tom Seaver vs Ferguson Jenkins ...two of the greatest pitchers of all time in the middle of a tight race to decide the division. Shea was packed ;the crowd was raucous. There were loud applause and thunderous foot stomping .

In the middle of the game ;probably spooked by all the noise , a feral black cat who was living in the depths of the stadium wandered onto the field and bolted past the Cubbies dugout .

http://assets.nydailynews.com/polopoly_fs/1.297425!/img/httpImage/image.jpg_gen/ derivatives/article_970/alg-catcubs-jpg.jpg

That cat was the dagger in the Cubbies season. All that was left was playing out the season even though the Cubbies still held the lead.

Cubs seem to have a history of that, remember Steve Bartman 2003 NLCS???

LOL Joe Maddon looks ridiculous in that winter pom pom knit cap.

With the scruff beard and those VA issue heavy black rimmed glasses, he looks like some Flushing Queens bum who just rolled out of an OTB to catch the game in the upper decks.

Mets up in the 8th. Murphy again.

Yank fans are calling sports radio and saying that if the Mets don't want to sign Murphy next year that there is an opening on the Yanks. Not sure about that . Murphy looks like he is one of those post-season phenoms that comes out of nowhere and just as quickly disappear. Experts who follow the Mets are saying that there is alot of his game that's deficient.

But the Mets fans are calling in fretting about the team possibly not signing Murphy and Cespedes next year . They should just enjoy the moment and worry about next year in November .

11-8 Toronto win last night. I really thought the Royals were going to come back to win that one.

Pitching matchup should be geared for a lower scoring game tonight.

Yes I know Banister is watching this closely. If not he should watch and learn from Yost.

Unless you have a shut down rotation like the young Mets, you need to go with the match ups.

Wonder if the Rogers stadium concessions will still serve beer cans today?

That is if you're willing to pay him big bucks just because he had a 1 month hot streak, he's already at 8M per year. His stats during the season are about the same as they have always been...
