The manager says shortly after 2:00 p.m. a patron dropped a bullet, the powder ignited and the shrapnel from the bullet went into his leg. A bullet, aside from being fired from a gun will only detonate by a striking of the primer (which is impossible by dropping it) or HEAT... like tossing a cartridge in a fire pit. Remember Newton's Second Law of Motion: The external forces F on an object is equal to the mass m of that object multiplied by the acceleration vector a of the object: F = ma. The force, F, is the exploding gunpowder. That force acts equally on both the bullet and the shell casing. If the shell casing is not confined by a gun, it will accelerate at a much faster rate than the bullet.
