Title: Navy Rules: We find no fault in Chaplain Wes Modder

In March, we alerted you to an unbelievable story about Navy Chaplain Wes Modder.

Chaplain Modder is a highly decorated, greatly respected and deeply praised officer serving in the Navy Chaplain Corps.

His 19-year career has included honored assignments such as serving as chaplain of the Navy SEALs. Just a few months ago, Modder's commander called him "the best of the best" and a "consummate professional leader" worthy of an early promotion.

Then came what appears to be a "set-up" by a homosexual activist to destroy the career of Chaplain Modder because of his biblical view on sexuality and marriage.

In 2014, Modder's assistant, a married homosexual, covertly searched through Chaplain Modder’s confidential counseling files and then forwarded pirated copies of them to the Equal Opportunity reps as evidence of "discrimination." In those private counseling sessions, Modder had called homosexuality a sin.

As a result, the base commanding officer at Naval Nuclear Power Training Command, Captain J.R. Fahs, removed him from his unit, told him to clean out his desk and forbade him to minister to the spiritual needs of military personnel.

While the Liberty Institute defended Chaplain Modder against these bogus charges in Navy proceedings, AFA Action Alert supporters flooded members of Congress with an amazing 75,395 emails, faxes and phone calls, urging that elected officials stop this witch hunt by homosexual hate.

There's no doubt that elected officials got involved as a result of your urging. We know that many representatives and senators contacted Navy leaders after hearing from you.

Today, we're pleased to announce that the U.S. Navy has completely exonerated Chaplain Modder from the bogus charges!

THAT'S the MoFo that needs to be relived of his command and set out on the street for the trash truck to pick up.

The Navy is famous for piss-poor "leadership" that throws their subordinates under the bus as the first hint of a problem in order to save their own careers. They don't "grow" leaders, they "grow" careerist robots that blindly follow orders without question.

The only example I can think of that is contrary to this is a famous case when a ships commander (destroyer?) was relieved at sea by his XO and other ships officers during WW-2. That guy was certifiably insane and went over the edge during the court martials of the officers who relived him of duty. He was so nuts he made Napolean look like a modest fellow by comparison, and even the Admiral sitting on the court martial board had to drop the charges against the XO and the other officers right after he took the stand to testify against the officers who took over his command.

The Navy, being the Navy, didn't court martial him,IIRC. They just forced him into retirement.

This was a 1950's film in black and white,IIRC,and had some actors with pretty big names or who later became pretty big names as actors. Pretty good movie and worth watching, but somehow I suspect it has never been shown at Annapolis.

The movie is the "Caine Mutiny." And what a blockbuster cast in that movie. Bogie and all.

Great movie and Bogart nailed his character. Loved the ball bearings he used to settle his nervous twitch.

Note that LCDR Modder is still being detached.

1. Your request for detachment for cause in the case of LCDR Modder, reference (a), has been reviewed and is disapproved. I have found the evidence of substandard performance in this case does not meet the standard of gross negligence or complete disregard of duty under reference (b) . LCDR Modder will not be detached for cause.

2. By separate action, LCDR Modder will receive regular detaching orders.

3. Your attention is invited to those portions of reference (c) that address the requirement for a regular detaching fitness report. You are reminded that in writing LCDR Modder's fitness report, you may comment on deficiencies in his performance; however, the fitness report should not contain comments that label his departure as a detachment for cause.

I think that means the original detachment orders must be replaced.

Perhaps the original detachment orders specified the reason for detachment. Thus with the above determination, must be replaced with generic, general detachment orders.

Your the USN guy:)

Before moving anyone in the Army, the investigation must be complete unless such Soldier causes disruption to the unit or life and limb of said Soldier is endangered. That is a simple inter unit transfer until things are determined.

So what you bolded I understood as expunging any cause the unit commander had to write a relief for cause.

To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.---Revelation 1:5b-6

Yeah, sure should. But since he is part of the Obama club, will not happen. a lot of others should be relived as well. Unfortunately, too, too many of the modern day Officer Corps is too PC, and not worth a damn.

I am positive that makes perfect sense to some bureaucrat, but I suspect most humans find it to be confusing.

I'm wondering who this guy is related to.

It means he is being shoved out the door without being documented for gross negligence or complete disregard for duty. He will retire rather than just be sent packing. His final fitness report is likely to less than stellar. I have seen several sources stating he will have nearly 20 years, but I do not know precisely what deal may have been worked out. It sounds like he is exiting with a pension. His days of active duty are ending.

It means he will not be detached for cause. He will be detached. His final fitness report cannot say he had a complete disregard for duty. It can say he was a screwup, but it must do so politely. Think of an enlisted evaluation that says that Private Numbnuts performed adequately or above average, but had some deficiencies which reduced his effectiveness and reflected poorly on his professionalism. Or just that he was adequate at everything but not recommended for retention or promotion. Evaluations are inflated. Good is poor, and adequate is screwup.

A really good evaluation should say that Private Numbnuts walks on water, is in direct communication with God, and must be promoted now in order for the service to take advantage of his unlimited potential.

I know that's the way it works in the army, but didn't know about the Navy.

I also know in the army that company 1st Sgts and SGM's will scan a evaluation, and unless the guy is a total screwup, they will get on the phone and play the "old boy network" to get an accurate back channel evaluation.

If the guy is a total screwup, that's not necessary because his previous First Shirt or SGM will call the new one and fill him in on what to be on the lookout for. If these guys decide you are out,you are out, period.
