I bought a jar of pepperoncini peppers and there was a pickle slice in it. I didn't want a pickle slice or pay for it. It ruined my whole jar. I feel cheated.

I bought a jar of jalapeno peppers that had carrot slices in it.

Can I join your lawsuit?

Maybe you'd like to join in on the Starkist Tuna lawsuit in the meantime.

StarKist Tuna has agreed to a class action lawsuit settlement that will provide customers with either $25 cash or $50 worth of tuna vouchers. The lawsuit filed against the tuna giant claims that the company was under-filling tuna cans by several tenths of an ounce. Anyone who purchased a can of StarKist tuna between February 19, 2009 and October 31, 2014 is eligible to file a claim. No receipt is necessary.

You can file a claim here:

Yes, you can. But the lawsuit will cost you more than you will get out of it.

You paid for a jar of peppers, and you got a pickle in it. The pickle changed the taste of the food. You did not get what you bargained for. They have to make you whole - either by reimbursing the cost of the jar or giving you a new one.

If they refuse, you can sue. The cost of the suit will exceed the cost of the pickle jar, and you will be viewed as having engaged in a frivolous lawsuit...which may result in sanctions unless you bring it in small claims court. There, it will cost you time, mostly, and filing fees, but if they don't make you whole, You will "win", but the game won't be worth the candle.

Can I sue somebody for this?

With the right judge and the right shister lawyer, you can sue anybody for anything.

"I bought a jar of pepperoncini peppers and there was a pickle slice in it."

Write the manufacturer and tell them what happened. They're pretty generous with free coupons.

You could sue but you'd end up with the same thing ... plus a bill from your lawyer for $5,000.

Not exactly true if you represent yourself as the Plaintiff.

Think of your find as an added bonus to seek out taste bud pleasures in life. Drop the lawsuit in favor of a learning experience and further opportunity to can your own peppers.

Didn't your supermarket immediately take it back for an exchange or refund?

If you take the jar with what remains to the place you bought it, most managers will give you a new jar or maybe two.

If you ate it all no dice. :)

If it was a "do nothing" job, I'd have stayed a little longer for the big bucks. Truth was, my department was severely understaffed the whole 20 years I was there. I got tired of calls stacking up and responding to everyone's dysfunctional problems from call to call without any time between to investigate some of the crimes that had no clear suspects or to actually do something proactive.

The job got old, quick for me... but Buckster, it's your story. Tell it how you see fit.

Tuff. Return it to the store, and exchange it for another. Much cheaper than a lawyer & court costs.

...there was a pickle slice in it.

I got back from Shoprite around noon today.
I saw a sign there that said that the deli would soon
start carrying locally made fresh dill pickles.

I'd better take all due care from here on....

The best way at retribution would be to videotape yourself ingesting the entire jar at one sitting on an empty stomach just before bed....

...then record the AM aftermath while holding the jar and cringing.

(you're welcome)
