His hands were clearly in the air, but that didnt matter to local Texas cops in Bexar County. The Sheriffs deputies were caught on a video just aired by a local news channel in Texas that shows a man with his hands up in the air, surrendering, right before police discharge their weapons on him.
Local KSAT12 said that the entire cell phone video is not being released yet. They have selected to release the portion that clearly shows the man with his hands up.
The video shows the man, not wearing a shirt, and clearly unarmed. He appears to be Caucasian, but little else can be distinguished about him besides the fact that his hands up raise up above his head right before police open fire on him.
The Bexar County sheriffs department says that their deputies had responded to a domestic disturbance Friday morning when the video was recorded. They claim that deputies tried to subdue the man, using Tasers and shields.
But the video clearly shows that the man was subdued and had surrendered with his hands up.
Sheriff Susan Pamerleau stated at a press conference the man had allegedly injured a woman before police shot him. That allegation remains to be seen. It is not for police to execute suspects that they do not like, even if they are abusive.
We must remember, however, that there is so far no evidence that these allegations are true. It is quite possible that police are trying to paint the victim in as negative a light as possible, in the hopes that we stop asking questions about why they gunned him down.
Certainly whats in the video is a cause for concern, Pamerleau added, but its important to let the investigation go through its course so that we can assure a thorough and complete review of all that occurred.
The sheriff said there was a lengthy confrontation before officers opened fire.

Where's the part of the video where he's shot? How do we know where his hands are at that point if the video continually stops before the use of deadly force?

I agree. I find it hard to believe that even a rookie cop would fire under those conditions.
