Title: Hackers Finally Post Stolen Ashley Madison Data

HACKERS WHO STOLE sensitive customer information from the cheating site AshleyMadison.com appear to have made good on their threat to post the data online.

A data dump, 9.7 gigabytes in size, was posted on Tuesday to the dark web using an Onion address accessible only through the Tor browser. The files appear to include account details and log-ins for some 32 million users of the social networking site, touted as the premier site for married individuals seeking partners for affairs. Seven years worth of credit card and other payment transaction details are also part of the dump, going back to 2007. The data, which amounts to millions of payment transactions, includes names, street address, email address and amount paid, but not credit card numbers; instead it includes four digits for each transaction that may be the last four digits of the credit card or simply a transaction ID unique to each charge. AshleyMadison.com claimed to have nearly 40 million users at the time of the breach about a month ago, all apparently in the market for clandestine hookups.

“Ashley Madison is the most famous name in infidelity and married dating,” the site asserts on its homepage. “Have an Affair today on Ashley Madison. Thousands of cheating wives and cheating husbands signup everyday looking for an affair…. With Our affair guarantee package we guarantee you will find the perfect affair partner.”

The data released by the hackers includes names, addresses and phone numbers submitted by users of the site, though it’s unclear if members provided legitimate details. A sampling of the data indicates that users likely provided random numbers and addresses, but files containing credit card transactions will yield real names and addresses, unless members of the site used anonymous pre-paid cards. One analysis of email addresses found in the data dump also shows that some 15,000 are .mil. or .gov addresses.

The data also includes descriptions of what members were seeking. “I’m looking for someone who isn’t happy at home or just bored and looking for some excitement,” wrote one member who provided an address in Ottawa and the name and phone number of someone who works for the Customs and Immigration Union in Canada. “I love it when I’m called and told I have 15 minutes to get to someplace where I’ll be greeted at the door with a surprise—maybe lingerie, nakedness. I like to ravish and be ravished … I like lots of foreplay and stamina, fun, discretion, oral, even willingness to experiment— *smile*”

Passwords released in the data dump appear to have been hashed using the bcrypt algorithm for PHP, but Robert Graham, CEO of Erratasec, says that despite this being one of the most secure ways to store passwords, “hackers are still likely to be able to ‘crack’ many of these hashes in order to discover the account holder’s original password.” If the accounts are still online, this means hackers will be able to grab any private correspondence associated with the account.

It’s notable, however, that the cheating site, in using the secure hashing algorithm, surpassed many other victims of breaches we’ve seen over the years who never bothered to encrypt customer passwords.

“We’re so used to seeing cleartext and MD5 hashes,” Graham says. “It’s refreshing to see bcrypt actually being used.”

Not much to say about this - except that I am more glad than ever that I've been happily married to "Mrs. Rufus" for almost 34 years and have never thought about straying. First saw an ad about this outfit about 15 years ago - thought then it was just another example of a rotted culture.

"With Our affair guarantee package we guarantee you will find the perfect affair partner.”

Seems like the perfect affair partner now would be a divorce lawyer.

Never, even one second of thought about infidelity, 'eh? Oh sure.

There is going to come a time in this country where convicted hackers will get either serious time in prison or be executed.

I personally hope that day is soon.

Politically, I tend to be more libertarian (small L) than most of my Christian brothers and sisters. So I would never promote the actual outlawing of a website such as the one that was hacked.

At the same time, however, I would never consider becoming one of their customers. Of course I do not condone what they do or what they are about.

I see the existence of the Ashley Madison website as just another nail in our society's coffin. Society in matters of morality (what it will tolerate) just gets coarser and coarser. Think of the parallels:

Thomas Edison (supposedly) invented the movie process, but it was likely many years before pornographic movies became mainstream. Likewise, pornographic pictures and "French postcards" existed for years but were hidden away, but it took Hugh Hefner to make it "respectable" with his "Playboy" magazine.

People have been having extramarital affairs for as long as there has been marriage. But Western Culture (generally) looked down on it. Or at least did not condone it.

It's likely the services offered by Ashely Madison are no different from those one can buy at myriad other pornographic websites. The difference, though, is other pornographic websites are not "mainstream" - with advertising carried on over the air TV. That, to me, represents society's condoning of such behavior. That's the example of how it shows society's continued slide down the drain.

Finally, if you're asking what I think of the website being hacked - I cannot condone that, either.

Hacking is against the law. And while I believe there are times when Christians are called to break the laws (laws passed in Nazi Germany, for example), those times are rare.

Go after sites like Ashely Madison by changing hearts and pointing people to Jesus Christ. That has the potential to put adultery promoting websites out of business.

Well as long as its pc they can hack away. But the moment its not then everyone screams for justice.

Look at when Anonymous hacked people and companies because they did not toe the progressive line and febs did nothing but give lip services.

Yes its time for a special task force to take on hackers from other countries and give them a lead pill to stop this problem. That is the problem I believe is other countries can hack the crap out of US and febs won't put a big effort into getting them. This will only embolden them to become more aggressive. Isn't this why we have the CIA?

No.

Domestic security is why we have a NSA,though.

Yes but since the criminals are from foreign land why not sick the CIA on them?

NSA is for spying on the local yokels to keep them in line.

Because the CIA is an intelligence agency, and they aren't allowed to work within US borders. Hacking Americans in America is a crime against individuals, not an attack on the country. The CIA doesn't have police units, and despite all the tv and movie stuff you see,for the most part they don't kill foreign citizens in foreign countries. For example,Billy Waugh was working as a CIA contract agent in Kabul tracking down Carlos, the Jackal, when he spotting Osama bin Laden at a party he had followed Carlos to,so Billy followed bin Laden back to the villa he had rented and in turn rented an apartment in a building across the street and set up a sniper post before contacting Langley to ask permission to take him out. Langley refused permission (probably more correctly it could be said it was the WH that refused permission) to whack Obama,as well as permission to whack Carlos. Bill set up an arrest for the French police, and took photos as they arrested Carlos and took him away to prison in Paris. He also took photos of Carlos's wife leaving the villa in tears.

Later he took photos of Obama as he followed him to the airport and watched him fly away.

The CIA is primarily concerned with gathering intelligence, not enforcing laws. Sometimes they are tasked with supporting guerrilla movements in other countries, but even then they keep their distance from what is happening and hire contractors for the hands on work of training the troops.

The bottom line is it is the White House that decides what the CIA will or won't do,but even the WH doesn't have the authority to order them to operate in the US.

Thanks, but what I'm looking for is a list of names. I have no idea what the private email addresses are for Maine's Congressional delegation is nor the governors, nor the big wigs in the GOP and party of the democrat in Maine, But I do know the names.

Can you help me with that? I have downloaded TOR.

Well I would not be so cut and dry on the matter...

Republicans probably go to heterosexual sites...Libs/Dims to the Caligula anything goes LGBTXYZ sites.
