Hillary Email Scandal Requires A Special Prosecutor IBD Editorial Scandal: The latest revelations that Hillary Clinton's server was wiped clean and that emails stored on it contained top secret information show this breach was no accident. It's time for the appointment of a special prosecutor. Clinton steadfastly refused for months to hand over the "home brew" email server she used as secretary of state. It took an order from a judge last week to get her to do so, even though it was used for government work. But what did she hand over? A server that's been professionally wiped clean, and a thumb drive that had been kept illegally in the office of her lawyer. The standard denials have been made. Clinton, her spokespeople say, committed no crimes. And Clinton herself categorically denied having any classified information on her server. Both denials look like evasions and possibly — if not probably — obstruction of justice. Clinton has argued that handling emails on a private server isn't a violation of the law. True enough, when Hillary became secretary of state in 2009, departmental rules did permit officials to use home computers. But emails had to be secured. Moreover, just nine months after taking office, new rules came into effect requiring that all emails be placed on department servers. "Her emails were not secured or captured on department servers," National Journal's Ron Fournier notes. Of greatest concern is that Clinton replaced an old server in 2013 with a new one, moving all the data from one to the other. Somewhere along the line, tens of thousands of emails were deleted. Yes, Clinton did eventually hand over hard copies of some 30,000 emails. But she sent or received some 60,000 as secretary of state. So what did she delete and when did she delete it? And why? In violation of the law, she almost certainly exposed U.S. secrets on her server. The inspector general for the federal government's 17 spy agencies this week noted two of 40 random emails of the 30,000 that Clinton has handed over contained what it called "Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information." The AP reports those emails included discussion of an article on a U.S. drone operation and a "separate conversation" whose source may be "highly classified." Do a little math. If the 2-in-40 ratio for top secret to nontop-secret emails holds up, investigators could find as many as 1,500 secrets made available to prying eyes on Hillary's private email server. That's a massive potential breach of national security. If Clinton had been a Republican, criminal charges would have already been drawn up — just ask Scooter Libby and Adm. John Poindexter, both of whom were convicted on lesser obstruction charges. What is Hillary hiding? Secrets of how she used public office for private gain to enrich the Clinton Foundation? Evidence of misconduct over Benghazi? Something we don't even know about? "It's definitely a criminal probe," a government source told the New York Post. Maybe so. After months of denial, lies, delay and obstruction, it's time for Clinton to be deposed and investigated. We need a special prosecutor with the tools to do it.

Meh. The GOP is on record as generally opposing special prosecutors. They think they do more harm than good.
An e-mail has a sender and a receiver. If Hillary sent classified e-mails from her non-secure server, the recipients have a copy of what she sent. Conversely, if others sent Hillary classified e-mails from their secure servers, they have a copy of what they sent. Why aren't these copies being rounded up? Did everyone in the State Department wipe their disc drives? Was no one concerned that they were sending and receiving top secret government e-mails from hillary@hillaryshome.com?
Conversely, if others sent Hillary classified e-mails from their secure servers, they have a copy of what they sent. And in between sender and receiver is a trail of breadcrumbs that NSA can follow. The highly classified stuff could have flowed through Sidney Blumenthal. Recall that his email submission provided stuff that Hillary did not. Sidney might be the Justice Department's best friend by now. They could have all of his stuff. The govt waited for Hillary's sworn statement and moved.
If it did, the work of the FBI just became easier. There's a trail, and they don't have to uncover all the emails.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch: The server was no bigger than this. Honest. It is what it is.
