After months of denials and delaying actions, Hillary Clinton has decided to turn over her private email server to the Department of Justice. As this controversy has grown since the spring, Clinton and her campaign operatives have repeatedly denied that she had placed classified information in her personal email while serving as Secretary of State during President Obama’s first term. (“I am confident that I never sent nor received any information that was classified at the time it was sent and received,” she said last month.) Her team also denied that she would ever hand over her server to investigators. Now both those assertions have been overturned. Hillary Clinton has little choice but to hand over her server to authorities since it now appears increasingly likely that someone on her staff violated federal laws regarding the handling of classified materials. On August 11, after extensive investigation, the Intelligence Community’s Inspector General reported to Congress that it had found several violations of security policy in Clinton’s personal emails. Most seriously, the Inspector General assessed that Clinton’s emails included information that was highly classified—yet mislabeled as unclassified. Worse, the information in question should have been classified up to the level of “TOP SECRET//SI//TK//NOFORN,” according to the Inspector General’s report. You may have seen acronym lists like these on declassified documents before—and glazed over them. This is the arcane language of the cleared cognoscenti so let me explain what this means: • TOP SECRET, as the name implies, is the highest official classification level in the U.S. government, defined as information whose unauthorized release “could cause exceptionally grave damage to national security or foreign relations.” • SI refers to Special Intelligence, meaning it is information derived from intercepted communications, which is the business of the National Security Agency, America’s single biggest source of intelligence. They’re the guys who eavesdrop on phone calls, map who’s calling whom, and comb through emails. SI is a subset of what the intelligence community calls Sensitive Compartmented Information or SCI. And these materials always require special handling and protection. They are to be kept in a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility or SCIF, which is a special hardened room that is safe from both physical and electronic intrusion. • TK refers to Talent Keyhole, which is an IC caveat indicating that the classified material was obtained via satellite. • NOFORN, as the name implies, means that the materials can only be shown to Americans, not to foreigners. In short: Information at the “TOP SECRET//SI//TK//NOFORN” level is considered exceptionally highly classified and must be handled with great care under penalty of serious consequences for mishandling. Every person who is cleared and “read on” for access to such information signs reams of paperwork and receives detailed training about how it is to be handled, no exceptions—and what the consequences will be if the rules are not followed. In the real world, people with high-level clearances are severely punished for willfully violating such rules. At a minimum, those suspected of mishandling things like NSA “signals intelligence”—intercepts calls, emails, and the like—have their clearances suspended pending the outcome of the investigation into their misconduct. Any personal items—computers, electronics—where federal investigators suspect the classified wound up, wrongly, will be impounded and searched. If it has TOP SECRET//SI information on it, “your” computer now belongs to the government, since it is considered classified. People found to have willfully mishandled such highly classified information often face severe punishment. Termination of employment, hefty fines, even imprisonment can result. Yes, people really do go to jail for mishandling classified materials. Matthew Aid, a writer on intelligence matters, served over a year in prison for mishandling TOP SECRET//SI information from NSA, for example. The well connected tend to avoid jail, however. Sandy Berger and John Deutsch—who both served in high-level positions under President Bill Clinton, did not go to prison for mishandling TOP SECRET intelligence (though Berger got probation and was fined $50,000). What, then, does all this means for Hillary? There is no doubt that she, or someone on her State Department staff, violated federal law by putting TOP SECRET//SI information on an unclassified system. That it was Hillary’s private, offsite server makes the case even worse from a security viewpoint. Claims that they “didn’t know” such information was highly classified do not hold water and are irrelevant. It strains belief that anybody with clearances didn’t recognize that NSA information, which is loaded with classification markings, was signals intelligence, or SIGINT. It’s possible that the classified information found in Clinton’s email trove wasn’t marked as such. But if that classification notice was omitted, it wasn’t the U.S. intelligence community that took such markings away. Moreover, anybody holding security clearances has already assumed the responsibility for handling it properly. Poster Comment: The saga continues. Who among Hillary's staff was properly authorized to see or store that stuff? How about the people out in Colorado with the server? Whoever maintained Hillary's original home server? This is sort of like Hillary is patient zero with a contagious disease, and they need to trace out all the contacts.

I heard that. From what I gather, she got it right and the Colorado company used professional degaussing, something generally unavailable at home. It's generally a big, really strong magnet made for the purpose. I'd like to be a fly on the wall of the Dem leadership trying to figure out what to do now. My best guess is Hillary develops a physical ailment and drops out for medical reasons.
A big question is if any of the 15 emails provided by Blumenthal, but not provided (or explained) by Hillary, will be traced from Blumenthal to his source and show they were sent to Blumenthal with security markings intact. Then it becomes who removed the markings and why.
Obama tells her she must cease campaigning and back Biden. Hillary develops a medical condition and needs to spend time with her family. Biden becomes the nominee. Obama pardons Hillary after the election. Republicans name Bush/Rubio as the ticket. Biden wins.

Why? If you think it's a constitutional bar, you're misreading it. It means that Florida's electors cannot vote for both. Nothing more. In a close election, decided by Florida, that could matter, because it would mean that the President would be of a different party than the Vice President.

Had there been any intention of a Bush/Rubio ticket, Bush would have changed residence to Texas or Wyoming. The party will not present that cluster foxtrot to the people.

They would not make that shift unless they had to. They didn't know that Trump' immigration strategy would require Rubio when this started.
That is good sounding but meaningless ear candy meant to deceive. The information from the intelligence agencies started out with a classification marking attached. The Agencies will track who sent it from the agency, and at what point the markings were intentionally removed. It does not help Hillary for her to say that there were no markings. It was classified by another agency and appropriately marked. Even had it not already been classified, as the agency head at State, she was personally the original classifying authority at State. She could delegate her authority but not her responsibility to see that all was properly marked and handled. The greatest immediate problem is the 15 messages to Hillary that Sidney Blumenthal provided but which Hillary did not. With Blumenthal's copy, the intel agencies will trace those going into Hillary's system. They may trace them exiting and going to State. Deletions by Hillary and State will not be well received. Once the intelligence agencies let loose their cyber bloodhounds, they may even sniff their way to the oval office. When intel starts leaking, it can cause all sorts of pain.
Bush speaks Spanish and has a Mexican (naturalized American) wife. Son George P. also speaks fluent Spanish. He does not need Rubio to curry favor with Hispanics. Rubio could well beat Bush in Florida and elsewhere. If Bush uses dirty Rovian politics on Rubio, it will hurt with Hispanics. The ladies really like Rubio. If Bush cannot win his home state, it would be a real setback. A Bush/Rubio ticket presumes Bush can beat Rubio in Florida without alienating Rubio. I do not see Bush winning the Hispanic vote against Rubio. Rubio would have no need or desire for Bush. Kasich might be a good fit to help deliver Ohio. Florida and Ohio on the GOP side could help toward victory in a big way. Scott Walker could be good. In any case, I doubt Rubio accept if Bush were in a position to offer. Rubio is young (44) and would probably be better off continuing his career in the Senate. He could well try again in four years.
My view is shifting. I think it will be Trump/Rubio. And they'll win.
My view is not set yet. It is just too early. The field should start to thin out by the end of August or by mid-September. Yet to be seen is how far Trump can raise his ceiling by lowering his unfavorables. Rubio probably has a higher potential ceiling, but he goes head to head with Bush in Florida and he will be tested. We know how low the Bushes will stoop from the way they went after John McCain. Assuming Trump does not flame out, and gets the nomination, I think a Trump/Rubio ticket would be formidable. If a Republican gets in, I think the Supreme Court will be reshaped as several of the members are getting really old.

The Mets have a great staff . They have multiple All Star caliber pitchers. My favorite is deGrom . Last years Rookie of the Year ,he is showing no signs of coming back to earth. In the All Star Game he needed 10 pitches to fan Stephen Vogt, Jason Kipnis and Jose Iglesias .He is certainly the best they've had since Doc Gooden . But you could say the same thing about Matt Harvey.
