Earlier this evening, CNNs Don Lemon interviewed Donald Trump about the debate on Fox News Channel last night, and set off another Trump-related tempest. After noting that Kelly pushed Trump during the debate, and that she pushed a lot of people besides Trump, Lemon asked, What is it with you and Megyn Kelly? Trumps reply was, er colorful, to say the least [emphasis mine]:
TRUMP: Well, I just dont respect her as a journalist, I have no respect for her. I dont think shes very good, I think shes highly overrated. But when I came out there, you know what am I doing? Im not getting paid for this. I go out there, and they start saying this stuff [garbled]. But you know, I didnt know thered be 24 million people. I knew it was going to be a big crowd because I get crowds, I get ratings. They call me the ratings machine. So I have, you know, she gets out and she starts asking me all sorts of ridiculous questions, and you could see there was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever. But in my opinion, she was off base.
Kelly did ask Trump tough questions in last nights debate, but she asked tough questions of Marco Rubio on abortion too, and of other candidates on stage as well. As the front-runner, Trump should have expected tough questions, especially given his track record of supporting nearly every progressive idea at one time or another, including Hillary Clinton being President. Kelly also asked Trump about his remarks about women, which appears to have particularly rankled him and pushed him into validating Kellys premise in asking those questions in the first place. After all, its not often when a major party candidate takes a shot at a woman by reminding everyone of her menstrual cycle. Im certain that will really impress women about their place in the Republican Party.
Trump was scheduled to speak at the Red State Gathering tomorrow, in the final slot at the event. Not long after these remarks, event organizer Erick Erickson announced that he had withdrawn the invitation:
I have rescinded my invitation to Mr.Trump. While I have tried to give him great latitude, his remark about Megyn Kelly was a bridge too far
That will undoubtedly anger some Trump supporters, but after last nights debate performance and his thin-skinned whining afterward, I wonder if that group wasnt already in decline. This might fire up the die-hard Trump troops, but suggesting that a journalist went after his target-rich record only because she was menstruating should be a disqualifier for most voters. Its vastly worse than anything Todd Akin said, and will almost certainly have media outlets demanding responses from the other Republican candidates. Its practically tailor-made for Democrats to hoist up the Republican War On Women banner, especially Hillary Clinton.
Get ready for plenty of Team Trump dog-in-the-manger, sour-grapes quotes in the morning, if not overnight. There may be some legitimate anger among a small group of RSG15 attendees tomorrow who wanted to see Trump at this event, but Erick has a solid case for not wanting to have this overshadow the event tomorrow, with more presidential candidates on hand to make their pitches. Erick will almost certainly address this in the morning, and well see what the fallout is over the rest of the day.
Update: Carly Fiorina appears to be the first Republican candidate to respond to Trumps remarks, perhaps fittingly so (via Twitchy):
Thats interesting, because Fiorina actually deflected a Trump question at her presser today at RSG15 by asking why the media wasnt calling out Obama for his offensive comments about opponents of the Iran deal. Not this time, apparently.
But I also think that while Mr. Trump resonates with a lot of people with his bluntness, including me to a degree, there are just real lines of decency a person running for President should not trust.
His comment was inappropriate. It is unfortunate to have to disinvite him. But I just dont want someone on stage who gets a hostile question from a lady and his first inclination is to imply it was hormonal. It just was wrong.
I have invited Megyn Kelly to attend in Donald Trumps place tomorrow night.
Well, that would be interesting. Well see if she can swing that.
Well, he does have that 10B in assets and Melania, and he is crushing in the polls.
Yeah, just like Giuliani and Hitlery were back in 2007.
And do you recall the Second Coming of Fred Thompson, our Lord and savior, also in 2007? Bet he wishes he had his L&O gig back.
Trump doesn't have the nomination yet. In fact, there is considerable history of the big early frontrunner totally imploding or losing to somebody that no one expected to get anywhere close to the nomination. It's how the voters seem to punish their early favorite.
It slays me that Trump gets to 26% in a few wacky polls and his supporters think it's time to just give him the nomination by acclaim. It's creepy, like the Hitlery supporters in the Dim party.
I don't even doubt that her PTB-GOPe handlers believe they've found their new "star." She apparently passed the audition with flying colors when she lectured the "Neanderthal" Trump while siding with innocent, delicate flower, Megyn Kelly.
Ok,you are a Trump fan. We get it.
As The Donald so modestly says, those of us who disagree with his pompous proclamations are "losers".
A title I proudly wear when bestowed by that gasbag Dim.
Why is democracy held in such high esteem when it’s the enemy of the minority and makes all rights relative to the dictates of the majority? (Ron Paul,2012)
You Trumpsters, following Teh Donald's lead, have made Megyn Kelly the litmus test.
We'll see how that works out for you.
Not going to wear well when The Donald sees he can't win,so he bows out of the race "because they are all losers, and I don't want to be associated with losers",and then throws his support behind the Dim candidate.
Seems to me like lot of people are going to have lots of trouble looking into the mirror the morning after that happens. Face it,this shithead is Perot without the charm, intelligence, and business experience. He is nothing but a typical spoiled and pampered NYC trust fund denizen that inherited over $200 million in cash as well as 15,000 rental properties in NYC,and thinks that makes him smart and a "winner".
Why is democracy held in such high esteem when it’s the enemy of the minority and makes all rights relative to the dictates of the majority? (Ron Paul,2012)
Suddenly ALL those who support and will support President Trump
PRESIDENT Trump??????
Did I miss the election?
Let me ask you this,do you REALLY think a power mad control freak like Trump will turn all his business dealings over to be managed by a blind trust for 4 years if he is elected?
If your honest answer is an unreserved "Yes",it is a waste of time to try to talk reason with you.
Trump will merely audition and hire THE best consultants ...
Who will by be definition, since he is the smartest man in the world according to him, consultants that just happen to agree with him.

Very astute question petey. I hadn't thought of that.
Not really. A financial magazine a couple of weeks ago put his actual net assets at between 2 and 3 billion.
Nothing to sneeze at for sure, but Trump is the only one claiming 10 billion, and he does that by tricks like claiming his name alone (Brand/Trademark) is worth $4 billion.
The Donald can't move his lips without lying. He is such a narcissist that he makes Bill Clinton look shy and modest by comparison.

I also recall the complete failure of polling in both the British and Israeli elections in the last year.
Why is this a surprise to anyone? Polling companies are like any other companies in business. They want to remain in business and profit, and the way to do this is to please the people that hire them by telling them what they want to hear.

She has a chance at the VP nod if they think her role as attack dog on Hillary!
That's assuming the Dims don't find a subtle way of knocking Bubbette! out of the race before the primaries.
They MIGHT go with Biden because they proved with Goober Gore that a candidate that is an actual idiot doesn't bother them, but I suspect they are looking for somebody smarter than a tomato plant, but that can still be trusted.
I honestly can't even guess who it would be at this point, but it seems pretty clear to me the movers and shakers in the Dim Party want to dump Bubbette!

Face it,this shithead is Perot without the charm, intelligence, and business experience.
It's possible. But he has an insatiable need for public validation of him as a great man. He is more emotionally needy than most puppies. It could just be that his personality is driven to do this, now, finally, before it's too late. He's already pretty old so this is his last chance to make some big public splash.
You really don't have a clue or any solutions. You just whine a lot.
He acts a lot lot like Yukon; spamming the same kind of crap. It must have been easy for him to guess Yukon's password since they have such similar patterns of thought.
Forbes says an honest assessment is more like half of that, about $5 billion.
Have you ever noticed that every one of the rabid Trump supporters always mention the "he's worth $10 Billion!" mantra, just like it means something valuable?
If anything it means the reverse because unlike Perot who earned his way to the Billionaire neighborhood,Trump was a shelted and protected trust fund child from multi-millionaire familIes in NYC and has never accomplished anything on his own in his entire life. He inherited over $200 million back in a time when that would probably be worth the equivalent of $2 billion today, plus 15,000 pieces of rental property in NYC.
He not only doesn't know anything about the lives of the working lower classes or the managing middle classes,he doesn't even care about them because they are "losers" that weren't smart enough to inherit mega-wealth like him.
In his entire life all he has accomplished is buying existing companies, putting his name on them, and then driving them into bankruptcy while skipping away with the investors money. He has not created one single job other than in tax accounting. All he has done is destroy companines, life savings, and end jobs for the working class.

Trump doesn't have the nomination yet. In fact, there is considerable history of the big early frontrunner totally imploding or losing to somebody that no one expected to get anywhere close to the nomination.
The INSTANT he begins to suspect he's not going to win the nomination he is going to drop out and claim he is quitting because "The Republicans are all losers, and I don't want to be associated with losers."
He is a spoiled child in an adult's body.

Thanks. It's the first thing I thought of because it is who he is.
Why is democracy held in such high esteem when it’s the enemy of the minority and makes all rights relative to the dictates of the majority? (Ron Paul,2012)
In his entire life all he has accomplished is buying existing companies, putting his name on them, and then driving them into bankruptcy while skipping away with the investors money.
He has built some but not terribly successfully.
He's bet big, lost big and, due to bankruptcy laws, managed to accumulate billions from a decent fortune he inherited. Like Romney, Trump was born on third base and hit a home run. But Romney never went bankrupt or anywhere close to it.
I had reservations about Romney but, financially, he was pretty responsible. Especially compared to a Trump.
Trump will merely audition and hire THE best consultants ...
He could start with a new coiffure sylist.
Not going to happen. This is "The Donald" you are speaking of. His massive ego tells him that people make fun of his hair because they are jealous of it because it is the perfect style and only "losers" wouldn't want to have hair like that if they could.
Why is democracy held in such high esteem when it’s the enemy of the minority and makes all rights relative to the dictates of the majority? (Ron Paul,2012)
Trump's father was one of the biggest slumlords in NYC. As a major real estate mogul, he wielded substantial political power as well.
A whore for JEB like you has business preaching about someone else ancestors. JEB's bankster grandfather helped to finance the Nazi party. This was the kind of housing that resulted.
The INSTANT he begins to suspect he's not going to win the nomination he is going to drop out and claim he is quitting because "The Republicans are all losers, and I don't want to be associated with losers."
What will happen when he realizes he won't win any primaries and will be humiliated.
At that point it will be "Screw you guys, I'm going home". Or to pull a Perot for his own petty vengeance (or to cut sweet deals with Xlinton allies in NYC).
Recall Warren Buffet and how his public pleas to "please raise my income taxes that I never pay and will never pay" and suddenly Buffet's BN railway has another decade of transcontinental oil transport contracts with no competition from some nasty Keystone Pipeline. Very lucrative for old Warren.
But he has an insatiable need for public validation of him as a great man. He is more emotionally needy than most puppies. It could just be that his personality is driven to do this, now, finally, before it's too late. He's already pretty old so this is his last chance to make some big public splash.
No doubt about you being right about all that, and I took all that into consideration and balanced it against his fear of public failure and humiliation for failing, and don't think there is a chance of him risking that embarrassment. Don't forget, his who sense of self is built around the illusion of success, intelligence, and always winning. Being a "winner" is as important to him as oxygen.
He's going to bail the very instant it looks like he's not going to win or the public start to turn on him because the one thing he can't stand is to be thought of as a loser. "Losers" are other people, people who disagree with him because HE is ALWAYS a "winner".
He's more insecure than the typical 13 year old girl.
Why is democracy held in such high esteem when it’s the enemy of the minority and makes all rights relative to the dictates of the majority? (Ron Paul,2012)
Being a "winner" is as important to him as oxygen.
His need for validation is almost pathological. In part, he is self-promoting but it's much more than that. He wants to feel the nation loves him personally, as a human being. He craves it.
It's kind of rare but a small number of people have light flyaway hair even into old age. Donald compensates by using more hairspray than most drag queens go through in a month. And it doesn't always work.
Thanks for doing the dirty work again, Chan -- research.
Good stuff. Trump's dad was quite the entrepreneur. His was also the type background that a son could look back on with pride of and for his family. That translates into an appreciation of America at its middle class roots:
The Trumps became involved in the project and with a $500,000 investment, turned the 1,200-unit complex with a 66 percent vacancy rate to 100 percent occupancy within two years. In 1972, the Trump Organization sold Swifton Village for $6.75 million. Donald's involvement with the project was to perform some landscaping and menial labor.

In 1971, [Donald] Trump moved to Manhattan and became involved in larger building projects and used attractive architectural design to win public recognition. He made plans to acquire and develop the old Penn Central for $60 million with no money down. Later, with the help of a 40-year tax abatement from the New York City government, he turned the bankrupt Commodore Hotel into the Grand Hyatt and created The Trump Organization.
A bit different than how Hitlery's fortune was made; OR, the Kenyan in Chief. Or the Bushes. OR the entire elite political class.
JEB's bankster grandfather helped to finance the Nazi party.
You are either making an honest mistake,or you are lying.
Prescott Bush Sr worked for the Harriman Bank, and got the job because he married into the Harriman family. The Harrimans basically ran the US State Dept right up to WW-2,and seemed to be immune to arrest for anything they did, including treason.
What happened was some very senior Nazi's asked their goobmas, the Harrimans,to launder and invest money for them so they would have big nest eggs if Nazi Germany lost the war. The Harrimans agreed, and assigned the job to Prescott, who was nowhere near a management position at the time. Not that this makes Prescott an innocent being ordered to so something against his will or without his knowledge. He was a evil scum-sucking bastard just like all his sons and grandsons.
Prescott fell on his sword for the Harrimans when it was revealed they had been laundering money for the Nazi's during WW-2,and AFAICT,he got a slap on the wrist for it. Even the JDL gave him a pass.
Despite the very real conviction,it didn't keep him from being elected to the US Senate in 1952.
Money talks,and people walk.

Yup. The same thing for Gubbermint mandated Health Insurance that is "affordable".
Both Buffett AND Soror are chief financial advisers to Obomber, and both own insurance companines.

In comparison to other Republicans in California, her Senate election result was not all that bad. There are few Republican success stories in California.
Yup, Fiorina's numbers in Kalifornia were "respectable." Didn't hurt that she's a Global Warmist. And formerly(?) Pro-Choice (and may still be for all we know.)

According to the cynics, Trump's asset are over-inflated, and so too are the polls which reflect the Donald destroying the field. (But...but....it CAN'T BE!! It's....it's a Hallucination!! The Donald is MEAN! And not even a "real" fake Republican!!)
A bit different than how Hitlery's fortune was made; OR, the Kenyan in Chief. Or the Bushes. OR the entire elite political class.
No,identical. It was all made from making deals with the government for tax breaks and low or no interest loans. You even point that out yourself in the quote.

I'm detecting a smidgeon of CLASS ENVY. Actually a whole lot of petty jealousy. Deal with Trump's success.
Hey -- we can't help who our daddy is. Why, Trump's Poppy *could* have built Planned Parenthood. Or illegally run liquor during the depression. Or collaborated with the Nazis.
The Trumps have built middle class digs. What has your choice for Amerikan Dictator built?
I'm detecting a smidgeon of CLASS ENVY. Actually a whole lot of petty jealousy.
No,you're not,but I do understand you think you are because otherwise you would have to face the truth.
What has your choice for Amerikan Dictator built?
I don't know. Why don't you tell me who my choice is,since I don't know that,either?
I DO know who my choice ISN'T,and it's the arrogant freak you support.

If you actually believe what Trump has accomplished to earn their fortune is NO different than Hitlery, the Kenyan in Chief, or Bushes, then you'd better switch psychiatrists. Your sense of reality is shot.

Yes. I can even understand it.
The family wealth came from sweetheart deals with politicians and payoffs to them and building inspectors.

It appears that once again, predictions of his political death have been premature.
It is not just that Trump is in first, but Cruz and Carson are in second and third, and they are the only ones in double figures. The people are giving the middle finger to the GOPe. Freezing The Donald out on Saturday should give him another few points.
Yep, exactly. The Top Three represent giving the Finger to business/politics as usual, and complete rejection of the usual fake choices. The jig is up. Trump will be declared "dead and buried" two years into his Presidency. After the RSG confab, Trump will wind up tacking on a few points.
Of further note of the GOP Leaderboard:
Trump: Businessman Carson: Doctor Cruz: Senator, but highly despised and dismissed by the MSM and Establishment Republicans and Democrats.
Funny coincidence how both Carson and Trump are NOT invited to RSG confab. I mean after all -- they're NOT "politicians." How can they possibly run the d*mn country into the ground without those "credentials"?? HA!
YOU claimed the means to Trump's wealth was "identical" to the aforementioned thieves. No matter WHAT you believe, the Trumps BUILT stuff. That mean they EARNED at minimum SOME of their wealth (as opposed to the others, who "earned" ZERO wealth.)
She passed her audition months ago when she went after Hillary. She is the GOPe designated hitter because she can do it without the party being labeled as sexist. She would be a good fit for the GOPe ticket's VP attack dog slot.
Sadly and pathetically, you're probably right. THIS is how sick the current PC Rules are. ONLY a female/black/gay can verbally criticize other similar demographics.
So...Fiorina's main qualifications as VP: Female Attack Dog. How appropriate.
