Cruz has been hardline on immigration throughout. So Trump was bombastic and got a lot of media attention but immigration would definitely have surfaced, even without Donald Trump raving about Mexican rapists. Trump took a major hit from each of the moderators. Baier hit him right off with the third-party question. Wallace hit him with his bankruptcies. Kelly tried to hit him with the you're-mean-to-girls crap and he mostly brushed that off but she definitely got him good when she asked how long he has been a Republican (which he dodged and weaved but never admitted his registration as a Republican only goes back to 2009. I noticed that in the Hannity post-debate interviews, Trump's hair had lost its 4-way combover plastered with industrial-quality hairspray. His hair was falling all over his forehead in cute bangs, making him look like an old, blonde and angry version of Twiggy (not that you're old enough to know who she was). Trump was thrown way off his game. He was sputtering, almost incoherent by the time he gave his closing.

I think his general style and personality carries him past his little Hair Club For Men problem. But I could be wrong. I know a lot of GOP women like Rubio for no reason they can articulate. And, other than the quarter-size bald spot at the back of his head, he looks good with his new combover moussed look. But I recall that both Dan Quayle and Paul Ryan were supposed to be total chick magnets and how that didn't work out so well.

They kinda ganged up on him with Common Core. Bush was ready but not ready enough. His wooden rote answers sounded weak. It was one of the few moments where I thought Bush seemed remarkably lifelike. Otherwise, a robotic corpse.
It is being replayed on CNN and Fox News. The one who really did well was Fiorina in the early debate. She scooped up over 80% of the first place votes. I just heard on the radio that Fiorina left her debate notes at hotel and winged it. Fox (GOP central) has been dumping on Trump. He appears to be dominating a poll at Drudge. His performance could go either way. Megyn Kelly went out of her way to make things difficult for Trump, but had some difficult questions for all. I thought Cruz, Kasich and Walker did ok. I thought Rubio would do better. Jeb and Rubio seemed too scripted. Christie and Paul did not help each other, and Paul should have left Trump alone. Carson had a good closing. Huckabee had some good laugh lines.
She shut Matthews up. He cut and ran.
I'm not sure he ran but he knew he'd met his match. She didn't fall for his gotchas, went on offensive against Hitlery and was relatively immune to the usual PMSNBC War On Women attack memes he was trying to peddle. She's no half-baked Palin. She is much improved as a candidate since her 2010 Senate run.

I was impressed with Carly Fiorina, as well. Not only the debate itself, but the way she handled Chris Matthews. My only concern - when she ran for the Senate in CA, how did she lose to perhaps the only woman in politics stupider than Nancy Pelosi (i.e. Boxer)? If she WERE to be the nominee, she would be running against the worlds SMARTEST woman, doncha know? (sarcasm tag /off)

I am still not impressed by Cruz's stage ability. He is smart and probably a great court lawyer but he is trying to dumb it down and seem sincere (does he look like that always with the attempt to make an earnest face or is that an act?). Anyway, as a marketing guy myself I see Cruz as Joe Isuzu.... The rest kind of did as good as I expected and I think Dr Carson redeemed himself in my eyes. For a long time, this very smart neurosurgeon always sounded like a retard Freeper - and not know the Baltic countries were in NATO would just have me wondering if he was really smart or just an affirmative action doctor? But last night Carson spoke in a way that redeemed him in my eyes. He is a smart guy but knows jack about foreign policy and politics so he was copying talk show radio points (like Trump did). Also, why are we calling these debates "debates" - they are question and answer sessions. Trump did OK - no knockout tonight by him on the others but I think he won't be hurt too much by how new he was to the process. Chris Christie's support for the Patriot Act and mentioning 9/10 and 9/11 over and over made me sick. I fucking hate Republicans invoking 9/11 after the shit those morons did under retard Bush. Paul had it right - get a warrant from a judge you fat piece of shit. Paul seemed combative but that is not his strength. Oh, and Bush looked puzzled. The same way she tore Hewlett Packard to shreds as CEO. That woman is a smooth talking dud who rides a meticulously groomed public image but has accomplished nothing of substance. She's the biggest destructive con person of the lot and is dangerous.
Paul had good positions but he was way too eager to jump in on the attack, especially going after Trump right out of the gate as a Xlinton puppet. Christie, like most of the others, want to declare war on Rand Paul and anyone who doesn't want to invade Syria/Iraq/Iran. The GOP is delusional if they think they will win by promising more wars in the Mideast. The public will not sign up for it. Inasmuch as Rand Paul is the only GOP candidate who isn't promising war, he did okay. But I doubt he gained many votes last night so the debate did nothing to move him up the list.
I agree with you - at least you saw it like I did - Paul was eager to jump in but it does not always work for him - not his style. Trump needs to prepare more. Just bar room talk about building Mexican walls (which I support) is not enough. Debates never sway me because I am political junkie and already have my mind made up unless the person is a drooling idiot on stage. Trump being anti-free trade and saying so on TV really made me feel good. I am an old school conservative and patriot even when I am doing my anti-American trolling. I fucking hate the idea of open borders and free trade. It's become a GOP ideology because they are so pro business it hurts but it was not always the case.
They're kind of dumb. Does anyone imagine that our presidents are hosting a debating society in the White Hut? I was surprised at how brazen the GOP candidates were in promising a ground invasion of Syria and a second invasion of Iraq. How can they possibly think they can win the general election when the voters are so opposed to more Mideast wars? Only a 9/11-style attack could move the public to support the foreign policy of the Stain/Lieberman/Graham/Krauthammer and the other neocon belligerents. I'm not sure even another 9/11 could get the public on board for another Mideast war. They sound way too eager to find any pretext to invade the Mideast again.
Several of our founding fathers who were devoted Christians and who later became President did not seem to have a problem with the US Constitution. So not seeing a strong case for your point.
