Kasich - big government republican. Strike 3 - he's outta there.

DrewM at AoS is convinced Kasich will be Bush's running mate. Depressing, eh?

A lot of others seem to think that is the natural ticket because the GOP must win FL and they must win OH or they can't win at all. Much as I dislike Bush and Kasich, I'm not totally convinced they are wrong.

The Dems get 242 electoral votes if they just flip off their voters and don't even campaign. So the EC is slanted against the GOP.

He got hit between the eyes with a 2x4 in the very first question. And he wasn't ready for the one question he had to know they would ask.

He could have definitely answered it better.

You know, though, that if a "Cruz" were the nominee, you'd have some gop-e pe people that would be supporting the democrat.

Remember when Colin Powell - who claims to be a republican - couldn't even support his "friend" John McLunatic?

And while I'm an old fart who will be drawing SS pretty soon myself, the Huckster's plan on not touching a broken system is unrealistic.

Why did Trump interrupt to assure the audience that he opposed the Iraq war in 2004?

What, along with John Kerry?

We invaded Iraq in early 2003. Did Trump want Bush to just yank them out a year later? I don't recall Trump saying anything like that.

Even Vox is ridiculing Trump's statement. It was as incoherent as Jeb!'s statement about Dumbya's Iraq war.

Huckabee isn't doing to bad either.

He'll never get the money or attention. In a crowded field, he'll have even less chance than he did in the 2008 field.

But Huckabee is just likeable to a lot of people. It's not hard to see why. He's a bit of a people pleaser, like another Arkansas pol, Bill Xlinton.

I think Walker has an edge in youth, being low-key, having the right demeanor, perceived by voters as "approachable", "cares about people like me", etc. The usual polling benchmarks.

He looks more Romulan than Vulcan, don't you think? He gave up on the big hair and has gone slicked-back. It works well because his hair was thinning and receding. Going slick conceals the thinness and lets him do a tiny combover in the front. Same with Jeb! and his hair. They must have the same stylist.

Walker has that hopeless bald spot but he's from Wisconsin and he's comfortable with it.     : )

Rand's hair looks a little less like a mop. Maybe his wife made him stop cutting his own hair in the shower. What a cheapskate.

I like the intangibles as much as the issues.

Nor did he run third-party when he could have after he lost the 2008 and the 2012 nomination fight, even though he was widely urged to do so and both LP and CP were ready to dual-nominate him.

He refused to say that he would support the REP nominee if it wasn't him. That's chicken sh*t then, now and always.

True. But he steadily refused any urging to run third-party and explained it was futile, given the built-in advantages the two parties create for themselves to exclude third parties. A third party faces big hurdles just to get on all the state ballots and much of their money and time is spent on that while the bigwigs pour massive funding into the two parties, increasing their advantage further.

Not endorsing your party's nominee is not the same as running third party after participating in a party's nomination process.

And for all the whining over Ron Paul not endorsing the Stain or Romney, do you think it would have made any difference? Of course not. You're just whining to hear yourself whine over something you know full well would have made no difference in the 2008 or 2012 election.

Jeb recited answers. His team obviously made lists of every possible question and drilled Bush on them, right down to the exact phrasing he should use.

Bush delivered his lines like an amateur actor, mostly in a flat voice. You could tell he was reciting. It had all the drama of a bad amateur theater production. Bush was a total snoozer.

**DRUDGE POLL** WHO WON THE FIRST REPUBLICAN DEBATE '16?

C'mon. A self-selected PollDaddy poll?

You don't recall when I demonstrated how easy it is to slam PollDaddy polls with Bash scripting, back at LP? A very fine expose on how easy it is for techie types to manipulate self-selected online polls.

I think Trump hurt himself. Maybe a 5% drop in the polls. I'd say that Cruz recovered some voters from him. And Huck helped himself with Iowa voters, especially the Fair Tax voters that loved him so much in 2008.

I think Rubio lost ground and is wishing he hadn't given up his senate seat to run for prez. Rubio may be heading for the JV debate next time around. He's great at soaring Peggy Noonan speeches at a convention but not good at a debate.

Paul was a wash (helped himself with younger voters, probably lost some older voters), Walker mostly a wash and a little boring, Kasich a yawn (but probably helped himself a little), Christie thinks he did great but I thought he looked like a bully again.

I think Trump was the night's biggest loser, along with Rubio and Bush. Carson and Huckabee and Cruz (and Fiorina) were the biggest winners and move up and get more fundraising. The rest didn't hurt or help themselves much either way.

One was that the moderators wouldn't be talking about illegal immigration if he did not make a stink about it. He's right.

Cruz has been hardline on immigration throughout. So Trump was bombastic and got a lot of media attention but immigration would definitely have surfaced, even without Donald Trump raving about Mexican rapists.

Trump took a major hit from each of the moderators. Baier hit him right off with the third-party question. Wallace hit him with his bankruptcies. Kelly tried to hit him with the you're-mean-to-girls crap and he mostly brushed that off but she definitely got him good when she asked how long he has been a Republican (which he dodged and weaved but never admitted his registration as a Republican only goes back to 2009.

I noticed that in the Hannity post-debate interviews, Trump's hair had lost its 4-way combover plastered with industrial-quality hairspray. His hair was falling all over his forehead in cute bangs, making him look like an old, blonde and angry version of Twiggy (not that you're old enough to know who she was).

Trump was thrown way off his game. He was sputtering, almost incoherent by the time he gave his closing.

I think his general style and personality carries him past his little Hair Club For Men problem. But I could be wrong. I know a lot of GOP women like Rubio for no reason they can articulate. And, other than the quarter-size bald spot at the back of his head, he looks good with his new combover moussed look. It is being replayed on CNN and Fox News. The one who really did well was Fiorina in the early debate. She scooped up over 80% of the first place votes. I just heard on the radio that Fiorina left her debate notes at hotel and winged it.

Fox (GOP central) has been dumping on Trump. He appears to be dominating a poll at Drudge. His performance could go either way. Megyn Kelly went out of her way to make things difficult for Trump, but had some difficult questions for all.

I thought Cruz, Kasich and Walker did ok. I thought Rubio would do better. Jeb and Rubio seemed too scripted. Christie and Paul did not help each other, and Paul should have left Trump alone. Carson had a good closing. Huckabee had some good laugh lines.
