Both very bright in their fields. Cruz as a top grad of Princeton and Harvard Law is probably got the edge in raw brains. Unless you need brain surgery in which case you'll think Carson is smarter. : )
Rand Paul attacking Trump for not pledging to support the REP nominee if not Trump or not pledging not to run 3rd party if Trump doesn't get the nomination. Really? I wonder if he has ever talked with his Dad about this, the Wizard Paul.
Ron Paul did not run for the GOP nomination in '88. He went LP first. Nor did he run third-party when he could have after he lost the 2008 and the 2012 nomination fight, even though he was widely urged to do so and both LP and CP were ready to dual-nominate him.
Rand looked a little desperate to land a blow on Trump, admittedly. He didn't help himself. But his dad has nothing to do with it.
Scott Walker has an easygoing low-key style. It is easy to like him. The bar is set low, nothing dramatic. I think people get very comfortable with him.
Walker is apparently the main pick of the Tea folk. They unified behind him early and have mostly stuck with him. Some of the Tea types who supported Cruz and Paul have gone with Trump now but Walker kept hold of his.
He got hit between the eyes with a 2x4 in the very first question. And he wasn't ready for the one question he had to know they would ask.
Donald was a deer in the headlights for about 10 seconds. Then he realized how bad he looked and tried to backpedal. Too late. He was caught.
Clever of the moderators but kinda underhanded. OTOH, who is Trump to complain that someone has played some media hardball? Trump is a media shark himself. No one is going to consider him a victim.
Kasich - big government republican. Strike 3 - he's outta there.
DrewM at AoS is convinced Kasich will be Bush's running mate. Depressing, eh?
A lot of others seem to think that is the natural ticket because the GOP must win FL and they must win OH or they can't win at all. Much as I dislike Bush and Kasich, I'm not totally convinced they are wrong.
The Dems get 242 electoral votes if they just flip off their voters and don't even campaign. So the EC is slanted against the GOP.
I just downsized my Comcast package down to just 20 channels... and the debate isn't one of them. I'll watch it on YouTube... but Facebook already reports that Fox (and Megan Kelly) aren't being fair to the Donald.
I'm the infidel... Allah warned you about. كافر المسلح
He'll never get the money or attention. In a crowded field, he'll have even less chance than he did in the 2008 field.
But Huckabee is just likeable to a lot of people. It's not hard to see why. He's a bit of a people pleaser, like another Arkansas pol, Bill Xlinton.
I think Walker has an edge in youth, being low-key, having the right demeanor, perceived by voters as "approachable", "cares about people like me", etc. The usual polling benchmarks.
He looks more Romulan than Vulcan, don't you think? He gave up on the big hair and has gone slicked-back. It works well because his hair was thinning and receding. Going slick conceals the thinness and lets him do a tiny combover in the front. Same with Jeb! and his hair. They must have the same stylist.
Walker has that hopeless bald spot but he's from Wisconsin and he's comfortable with it. : )
Rand's hair looks a little less like a mop. Maybe his wife made him stop cutting his own hair in the shower. What a cheapskate.
Check my #25 to Fred. The streaming worked for me but I had to wait almost 2 minutes for it to start streaming and it looked dead until the video suddenly appeared and started playing smoothly. Not sure if it worked for Fred or not.
Why does it take 3 sentences to ask 1 question? Why do the moderators have to frame the questions from the liberal side of the aisle? War on women? Like this is a real thing in America.
Nor did he run third-party when he could have after he lost the 2008 and the 2012 nomination fight, even though he was widely urged to do so and both LP and CP were ready to dual-nominate him.
He refused to say that he would support the REP nominee if it wasn't him. That's chicken sh*t then, now and always.
Ben Carson would be at or near the top of my list if he weren't a True Believer Fundie. I just can't vote to make someone president that believes in magic and miracles.
Why is democracy held in such high esteem when it’s the enemy of the minority and makes all rights relative to the dictates of the majority? (Ron Paul,2012)
It ain't on my local Fox affiliate. I was dying to see it.
Fred,I'm betting it will be on YouTube by the morning.

I don't know of a Jebby. Jeb Bush though was guvnah of Florida when Terry Schiavo was allowed to die of thirst. I think he was also guvnah when Elian Gonzalez was taken by jackbooted SWAT team members from his family in Floriduh.
JEB played it safe and looked uncomfortable when stating things he did not believe. Does that make sense:)
I missed the earlier debate. Was that on PMSNBC?
"When Americans reach out for values of faith, family, and caring for the needy, they're saying, "We want the word of God. We want to face the future with the Bible.'"---Ronald Reagan
Huck got in a few good lines to remind them he was still there.
Walker did a good job promoting his record but was a bit somnolent.

True. But he steadily refused any urging to run third-party and explained it was futile, given the built-in advantages the two parties create for themselves to exclude third parties. A third party faces big hurdles just to get on all the state ballots and much of their money and time is spent on that while the bigwigs pour massive funding into the two parties, increasing their advantage further.
Not endorsing your party's nominee is not the same as running third party after participating in a party's nomination process.
And for all the whining over Ron Paul not endorsing the Stain or Romney, do you think it would have made any difference? Of course not. You're just whining to hear yourself whine over something you know full well would have made no difference in the 2008 or 2012 election.

Jeb recited answers. His team obviously made lists of every possible question and drilled Bush on them, right down to the exact phrasing he should use.
Bush delivered his lines like an amateur actor, mostly in a flat voice. You could tell he was reciting. It had all the drama of a bad amateur theater production. Bush was a total snoozer.
