But after he was elected, the fist words out of their mouths was " I am a Reagan Conservative ". Nope, the northeast lib Republicans still looked down their noses at him. More of them did cave somewhat after the '84 election. Some of them refused consistently to ever say that they were Reagan Republicans. Romney, for instance, denied rather vehemently on a number of occasions that he was a Reagan Republican in any way. Of course, by the time he ran for prez, he wanted us to believe he was the Second Coming of Reagan. I remember all of them, especially after Reagan left office, were all "me too, me too, me too" I am a Reagan Republican". They were all for "the establishment" and hated anybody that challenged them. They hated Goldwater also, but since he did not win, they never felt the need to try to appear to be in alignment with him, like they did Reagan. I hope the repuke party goes the way of the Whigs. Trump is no conservative and not even close to one . His solutions are all statist big government and his argument is that he can efficiently deliver the goods better than any of his Repubic or Democrat opponents .
