Navy Lt. Commander will reportedly be charged for shooting at the Chattanooga terrorist A report at The Navy Times in July confirmed that one of the Marines shot during the Chattanooga terrorist attack exchanged fire with the terrorist. Navy Lt. Cmdr Timothy White also shot back at the terrorist. But rather than being celebrated as a hero, Lt. Commander White may be charged for discharging a firearm on federal property. Ladies and gents, resulting from the text message I received yesterday, I can confirm that the United States Navy is bringing charges against Lt. Cmdr Timothy White for illegally discharging a firearm on federal property. The text message asked if it would be possible for Lt.Cmdr White to reach out to me. To wit I replied, affirmative. What kind of freaking idiots are in charge of our Armed Forces — pardon me, our “unArmed Forces”? What would they prefer that Abdulazeez had been able to kill all the Marines and Sailors at the Naval Support Reserve Center? Let me draw an interesting contrast: Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus is more concerned about lifting the ban on transgendered Sailors. Mabus has a problem in that for the first time since 2007 the US Navy will not have a Carrier Battle Group operating in the Persian Gulf. But this knucklehead has no problem with the Navy seeking to destroy the career of a Sailor, a commander of an installation, returning fire against an Islamic jihadist attack. I do not care if it was his personal weapon, he deserves a medal for facing the enemy. Folks, this has become the Obama military that will not implement policies for our men and women in uniform to be protected — but will punish them if they do protect themselves. What ever happened to the Navy of John Paul Jones, Farragut, Halsey, and Nimitz? What has happened in our America where we believe that our men and women in uniform — especially the commanders — are just targets for these damn Islamic jihadists?

Damn good question!! I had to go back and look to see if this was some kind of Bizzaro Article. This is the most insane thing I have ever heard. This guy should be treated as a hero, not treated as a criminal!! I know that the military has become increasingly political, on overdrive!! But how can this be? Someone,somewhere up the ladder made the decision to do this & gave orders for it. I wonder who it was. Was it Valerie Jarrett? I cannot believe that as those orders came down, someone did not object to such an order!!! It is tar & feathers time!! I was rather surprised that Fox News isn't in a full Breaking News snit over this story. Particularly in the slow summer news cycle. Maybe they'll focus on it more this week. I was a little surprised no one else had noticed this story and posted it here at LF. The officer has a nice looking family. Smart release of that family photo.

Trying to charge this guy is likely to bring on a long-overdue debate on weapons policy at bases and civilian military offices. I'm thinking there will be a lot of knives being sharpened between various factions at the Pentagon. At some point, you have to confront and respond to the fact that ISIS has clearly targeted American military. And where is the best place to find them concentrated and unarmed? A recruitment office in a mall. And it also makes potential recruits nervous to set foot in a recruiting center, knowing they are a real terrorist target.

What? You mean Jim Hoft of GatewayPundit might be hyping a fake story? I feel so betrayed! I wondered when I saw this why Hoft was the only source of reporting on a story that would attract more attention. And Hoft does have a certain history of flacking fake stories. I only posted it because I thought Allen West wouldn't sign on to a totally fake story. I probably should have put a disclaimer with the story, noting that Hoft is a wingnut with a track record. OTOH, the Pentagon brass can't completely ignore a ranking officer breaking their weapons policy and the law blatantly. So I wouldn't be surprised if the JAGs do something like recommend a pro forma reprimand on his record. I do recall that it seemed from the reporting that the staffers didn't return any fire against the attacker until they were in the "garage area" of this strip mall. So maybe the recruiters had handguns in their vehicles lawfully. I haven't read anything to indicate that they were armed while still inside the gun-free office area. BTW, the Navy has issued kind of a denial. Inquisitr: Lt. Cmdr. White has explicitly indicated that he was in possession of a personal weapon and that he did return fire, actions that are subject to review, by law. The U.S. Navy has made clear that no charges have been brought against Navy personnel at this time, and that the investigation is ongoing.

Yes, that is correct, although they said no charges have been filed against anyone, implying yet.

That ban is now facing scrutiny following the July 16 rampage by an Islamic extremist that killed five military members in Tennessee.

That's not saying they won't charge when the dust settles. Expect an article 32 investigation to determine if charges should be preferred. The UCMJ authority may decide to throw out any charges but I would not be surprised if this goes the distance. I guess you have to desert your unit in a combat zone and join the Taliban to get the sympathy of the POTUS and his darling state run media. That or be an inmate at Gitmo. They have to at least go through the motions of an investigation. If there is a charge, it is very unlikely to be "for discharging a firearm on federal property." When there is a bad guy shooting and killing five people, they will not charge someone for shooting back, even if he was not supposed to have the weapon. Most likely they will tell him not to do it again, or give him a letter of some sort. In today's military, had he been wounded, he could have been awarded a purple heart and been reprimanded for shooting back.
Uniforms of any kind seem to be magnets for the schittbirds, they see them as a sign of authority even though some of them really aren't... My guess is this will eventually all be swept under the rug if they drag their feet long enough...

So a prosecution is optional, the formal review process is not.
Today, in a report from the Chattanoogan, a spokesman for the U.S. Navy has denied reports that disciplinary charges will be filed against Lt. Cmdr. Timothy White regarding his actions during the Chattanooga shooting, in a post on Facebook and other social media sites. “Stories of Navy personnel being charges with an offense are not true. There is still a long way to go in reviewing the facts of this tragic incident, but at this time we can confirm no service member has been charged with an offense.”
As the Inquisitr has previously reported, Lt. Cmdr. Timothy White was carrying, and did discharge, his personal firearm during the Chattanooga shooting. At least two personal weapons belonging to military personnel were recovered by investigators at the Reserve Center. According to official Navy policy, carrying personal weapons on federal property is a UCMJ violation, as is discharging them on federal property, and by law, Navy JAG must review this case — they are not allowed to cherry-pick which cases they review. The public outrage is, in this case, completely unwarranted.
