This is an opinion piece in the NY Times basically saying Trump is a monster and the GOP Dr. Frankenstein. Same old same old. What I found amusing is how illegal aliens are Orwellian re-named as "newly arrived strivers". Here is the quote: The adults patrolling the playpen of Republican politics are appalled that we’ve become a society where it’s O.K. to make fun of veterans, to call anyone who isn’t rich a loser, to cast an entire group of newly arrived strivers as rapists and shiftless criminals. Just too funny. Here is the rest of the article: Somewhere, we crossed a line — from our mothers’ modesty to strutting braggadocio, from dutiful decorum to smashing all the china in the room, from respecting a base set of facts to a trumpeting of willful ignorance. Yes, how did we get to a point where up to one-fourth of the party of Lincoln, Eisenhower and Reagan now aligns itself with Donald Trump? Those same political marshals would have us believe he’s a “demagogue,” a “jackass,” a “cancer.” They say he’s trashing the Republic brand. They say he’s “stirring up the crazies,” in the words of Senator John McCain. But Trump is the brand, to a sizable degree. And the crazies have long flourished in the Republican media wing, where any amount of gaseous buffoonery goes unchallenged. And now that the party can’t control him, Trump threatens to destroy its chances if he doesn’t get his way, running as an independent with unlimited wealth — a political suicide bomb. ---Continued.....

What gets me is calling illegal aliens "newly arrived strivers".
Their striving to become criminal invaders has succeeded, now onward to more crimes... If their first step into the country is illegal, it's reasonable to suspect that more crimes will follow. Just enforce the law, quit offering them gov cheese and other freebies, and deport the illegal aliens. It's positively treasonous the way our government is encouraging and funding the invasion of America. It was bad under Bush, but it's even worse now. It's totally bipartisan, Democrats and Republicans both support the invasion. IMO the motivation is keeping the FED fiat dollar, financial ponzi scheme going. They need more peasants to fill in the base of the Ponzi pyramid. When they run out of suckers, it will collapse. The political left is a master of semantic manipulation. It comes up with a new word or phrase to describe parasitic invaders or enemies of the American people at the rate of several times a week and manages to insert them into our working and conceptual vocabulary. In so doing, they control the way we think and act. "Newly arrived strivers" is the latest manipulative ploy. "Progressives" as a term for regressive Marxists is one that has been concocted and common usage in the past year. The leader of the local Tea Party is using it to describe Marxists and is therefore employing their propaganda term to describe them. It used to irriatate me to explosive wrath when Georgie Bush would use terms such as "vibrant" to describe invading cultures. Wgen the analysis of reality becomes one of considering "vibrant progressive newly arrived strivers" it ensures that nothing will be done and all intention to do anything will be psychologically blocked from occurring. Use of the terms verbally prejustifies a corrupt outcome in analysis.
Trump criticised a subgroup of illegal criminal aliens. Trump did not make fun of veterans. The newly arrived strivers are in the country illegally. They will strive to obtain employment illegally. If they obtain a social security number, they will do so illegally. If they do not strive to unlawfully seek employment, they will seek to obtain income by unlawful means. What verbal pollution. But newly arrived striver sounds better than illegal alien or illegal border jumper. Perhaps, undocumented striver, or Jeb Bush could say, newly arrived seeker of love.
Sounds like a phrase you'd use to describe participants in the Special Olympics.
