It wouldnt be a monumental achievement in human history without some truthers on the internet calling it fake. And NASAs historic Pluto flyby is no different. The conspiracy theory crowd has descended on the event as their too-good-to-be-true choice this week. Wake up sheeple! Pluto is just a dog at Disneyland!
As just one example, look at this video put together by YouTube user Crrow77.
Now this is just an insult to your intelligence, the narrator says, ostensibly referring to NASAs Pluto flyby conspiracy. The creator of the video claims that the images weve seen of scientists loading a camera onto the New Horizons probe is, probably sitting in a Burbank soundstage somewhere.
His evidence? Well, he took his own telescope out in his backyard and pointed it at Jupiter. And since he can supposedly get a clearer image of Jupiter in his backyard at 400 million miles than NASA can get of Pluto at 9 million miles (which he cant) then this means its all a hoax.
He may as well be screaming enhance at his computer monitor like hes in some fake-ass 90s techno-thriller. Wake up America! Stop being so hashtag gullible! DONT BELIEVE THE HOLOGRAMS!
TOO BAD ALL #NASA MISSIONS ARE FAKE HOAX.............. #PLUTO DON'T BELIEVE THE HOLOGRAMS , AT LEAST STAY CONSISTENT WITH THE IMAGES SMHJuly 14, 2015
These Pluto Truthers Insist NASA Images Are Fake
As TruthIsNeverTooHorrible helpfully explains, Pluto doesnt even exist. It was invented by the Illuminati. Thats just science:
BASICS
ASTRONOMY FOR DUMMIES - The ONE BASIC FACT - read and weep about yourself
Any celestial body that can not be observed with a telescope located ON Earth, is fake.
This one basic fact implies that for instance Pluto (the first example among millions) is an invention created by the illuminati.
Decades later the illuminati used NASA and the soviet space agency to serially produce Pluto type of hoaxes.
There are still others who believe that NASA has indeed captured real images of Pluto but that theres a possible coverup involving aliens and buildings on the surface.
We here at Gizmodo accept the fact that were sheeple and believe that NASA really did fly past Pluto in an astounding display of human ingenuity. Despite repeated demands from the internet, we refuse to wake up.
