Donald Trump isn’t afraid to say what needs to be said. Now the billionaire, television personality and presidential aspirant has a straightforward message for Christians. “The Christians are being treated horribly because we have nobody to represent the Christians. Believe me, if I run and I win, I will be the greatest representative of the Christians they’ve had in a long time,” Trump said in a recent interview. In the midst of persecution in the Middle East by Islamic extremists and persecution at home by liberals who would take away the freedoms of religion and expression, Christians need a champion. The other U.S. presidential wannabes have largely failed to address directly the state of Christianity in the world. Trump is filling that void. In the same interview, Trump criticized the Obama administration for its anti- Christian immigration policies. He exposed Obama for allowing Muslims who live in Syria to come to the United States while blocking the Christians in Syria. “I learned this weekend … that if you’re a Christian living in Syria you can’t come into this country. Yet, if you are a Muslim living in Syria, who are not under attack, they can come in. We have Christians being beheaded all over the world by ISIS. In Syria and in Iraq, in particular, those Christians can’t come into this country,” he said. And with such comments, the Trump bandwagon continues to take on passengers. David Brody of CBN is encouraging evangelicals to support the business magnate. “Trump’s ability to cut through the clutter and paint the world in ‘absolutes’ attracts quite a few evangelical voters. Remember, evangelicals hold true to their ‘biblical absolutes,’ so to see a person like Trump let it rip and tell it like it is becomes a somewhat endearing quality to some evangelicals. Trump takes hits for his boldness, and evangelicals take hits from society for their biblical boldness, too,” stated Brody (H/T Shoebat.com). In other words, while other candidates hem and haw, afraid of saying something that might antagonize potential supporters or raise the ire of a biased media, Trump blasts ahead and lays it on the line. He may not be the most eloquent speaker, but Trump is capturing the imagination of Americans. That has made him an early front-runner in the race to the White House.

Oh great, now he's mixing religion with politics. This should be another powder keg for more headlines.
All of 'em mix religion with politics. Oh wait - you meant "Christianity", didn't you? Never mind.
Since Trump runs a number of gambling casinoes, how is he going to merit the Christian vote when he is encouraging SIN?
Notice that Trump specifically excludes himself from the category of "Christian". Elsewhere, I've read that Teh Donald also plans to win the votes of Mexican rapists, including the Mexican tranny rapists.

Yes, Bernie is a devout Communist, Hillary worships at the Lesbian Y. Even Fred is a slip and fall Catholic, I believe. What sort of Christian is Trump, anyway?
No doubt, since everyone is jumping on the band wagon and going for Trump. His fiery, upbeat and straight talking rhetoric has hurled him even further into celebrity status. He has galvanized support for his run among many wings of the GOP. This is evidenced by the outsized demand for the upcoming events. The enthusiasm is contagious….catch it and hang on.
I think he claims to be a Presbyterian. I remember his first wife, Ivana. She was an anchor wife from the Czech Republic.

Based on all Christian folklore, the Christian church encourages the work for the family unit; how does encouraging debt by gambling in places where scanttily-clad women encourage the family unit and responsibilities? BTW, gambling is considered a mental disease. In the Christian world, gambling is considered a SIN.

You can’t use “claims” when referring to Trump, Fred. Trump doesn’t “claim” anything. When he says he is something, then HE IS! Also, when he says he will do something, then HE WILL.
Catholics love their Bingo. Look, fred, the pope will annoint them with some holy water ... suggest a few mary this ... mary that ... and hold out a pie plate and all is forgiven in a blink of an eye!

Gambling is a game, like any other game. It is not a sin, as such, to gamble. Anything that possesses one to serve it BECOMES a sin. Sex is not a sin, within its proper boundaries. Outside of those boundaries, it becomes sinful. Food and wine are not sins, but serving them through excess consumption becomes sinful. It is no sin to buy a lottery ticket or go spend $20 in a casino spinning slots. And if you're good at it, it's no sin to make a living gambling. BUT if you're spending the rent money and leaving your kids without shoes, then you're serving it, it's become an idol, and that's sin.
That's fine. I don't care what a man BELIEVES. I care what he DOES. THAT is what matters. To me, anyway.
You certainly do love your works-based salvation.
If salvation was based on works, none of us would make it into the Kingdom of God.
Not to hijack the thread into theology but you can readily see how apparently unconnected theological outlooks translate into other areas of life. Politics often amounts to a secular version of religious debate.
I believe Trump got out of the casino business years ago.
It's not a question of SALVATION. It's a question of whom I accept and trust and who I don't. GOD cares what's in people's heads and hearts, because HE can read that. But I can only see what they DO, and what they DO is what affects me. So I care about what they DO, not what they think. That somebody is a "Christian" is nice. The Bishop who burnt Joan of Arc to death was a Christian. But I despise him as a murderer of a Messanger of God. What he BELIEVED isn't important to me: God can judge him or exonerate him for that. I see what he DID, and I hate him for it.
A polite way to describe the bankruptcy of Trump scams like Trump Plaza (Atlantic City, bankrupt 2014).
There is no way to disconnect theology from every aspect of our life.
Certainly, I've said the same for many years.
That's exactly what he meant. Islam and politics is just fine. Judaism and politics, no problem. But Christianity? Church and state! Church and state!
