Trading in all symbols was temporarily halted on the New York Stock Exchange floor Wednesday due to an apparent technical issue. "NYSE/NYSE MKT has temporarily suspended trading in all symbols. Additional information will follow as soon as possible," the NYSE said in a statement on its status page. A technical issue caused the trading halt, Reuters reported, citing a source. Trading stopped around 11:30 a.m. ET. The Nasdaq reported no technical issues and said it continues to trade NYSE-listed stocks. This story is developing. Please check back for further updates. The stock exchange is closed, and flights out are grounded. Nothing to see here, move along! According to United Continental, flights were temporarily grounded this morning because of computer problems. United cited “network connectivity” as the source of the problems. Just hours ago, the NY Stock Exchange halted trading in all securities as it addressed a computer malfunction and said it canceled all outstanding orders, according to Bloomberg. Kevin Callahan, a spokesman for the Securities and Exchange Commission, declined to comment. It is not known if the two incidents are related. Truth In Media is looking into this story and will update as new information is released.
The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) may re-open around 2:45 p.m. or 3 p.m. ET today, according to the exchange's president.
