After scoring a third-round TKO in Saturdays Ultimate Fighting Championship in Hollywood, Fla., Cuban-born Yoel Romero turned his post-fight interview into a bigger story than his phenomenal victory. In his broken English, he thanked Jesus.
The left went crazy and it wasnt with joy.
What happened to you, USA? Romero began. What happened to you? Whats going on?
He followed that up by imploring his fans to go for Jesus, and to not forget Jesus.
Some people jumped to the wrong conclusion and thought he said, not for gay Jesus.
At a post-fight press conference Romero, who goes by the nickname Soldier of God, insisted his words were misinterpreted.
I didnt refer to anybody, he said, according to Steven Crowder. What I was trying to say, was, United States, thank you for giving me the American Dream. Theres no better country than this one because it is blessed by God. Its in the dollars that this country was made by Christian people. That means its blessed by God.
He also got a bit more specific with his religious beliefs, according to BloodyElbow.com, which reports on mixed martial arts arts and UFC events.
God told Mary Magdalene, youre a prostitute. Go, and dont sin anymore. He told her with love, Romero said.
Who am I to judge anybody? Even though I didnt refer to that, even if there was a misunderstanding, I will tell you guys something. God made man to be free. Anybody can do whatever they want. I wouldnt be the type of person to critique anybody. Ive got to look at myself first, to be a better person.
That should have cleared everything up, right? Wrong.
After referring to Romeros press conference remarks, and acknowledging that Romero had claimed he wasnt referring to gays at all, BloodyElbow.com decided he was in fact referring to gays.
Let us follow the assumption that Romeros comments were indeed about the Supreme Court ruling, writer Karim Zidan opined, sounding like a parody of pompous sportswriting (he might be trying out for The New York Times):
It is appalling to see sports athletes or celebrities of any kind, given their status as role models for the media-driven youth, offer such hateful remarks on personal freedoms and basic equality. Not only is it detrimental to that athletes personal brand even if they are too shortsighted to understand that at the time it spreads a hateful message through a powerful medium that may have unprecedented influence over certain people. Many idolize and draw inspiration from these athletes, so one can imagine the impact such messages could have on them, even if only on a subliminal level.
Romeros clearly almost comically misunderstood words of love are now hateful speech and a hateful message?
Its becoming clear our religious freedoms are under attack.
The ever popular phrase that will end up destroying this country.
Except that ONLY the hypocritical Left is allowed to play that card. Same with their "Intolerance" card, "Bigot" Card, and "Hater" card, etc. As they are allowed with total impunity and immunity to be THE biggest intolerant haters on the planet.
It's been the MEDIA who's driven and acted as judge, juror, and executioner of this "DON'T DARE JUDGE ME...BUT I'LL SURE AS H*LL JUDGE YOU WITH IMPUNITY!" meme.
"DON'T DARE JUDGE ME...BUT I'LL SURE AS H*LL JUDGE YOU WITH IMPUNITY!" meme.
Good point. But not only will they judge you, they will destroy you.
They will get you fired. They will boycott your business. They will harass you at home. They will use the social media to broadcast your intolerance. They will sue you.
The Bernalillo County District Attorney's Office says that Monday is the deadline for the state to move forward with the case against former UFC fighter Jon Jones, but the deadline will pass without ongoing charges against him.
Jones was booked on felony hit-and-run charges on April 27 and released the next day. The alleged hit-and-run happened the day before at Juan Tabo and Southern, when a car allegedly driven by Jones slammed into a pregnant woman. The suspect identified by witnesses and police as Jones then ran off before turning himself in the next day.
According to the police report, officers found marijuana and paperwork belonging to Jones at the scene of the crash as well.
DA spokesperson Kayla Anderson says that Jones has yet to be charged in a court of law because the state is still waiting on medical records for the alleged victim and dispatch reports in order to file charges or pursue a grand jury indictment. The state had 60 days after Jones's conditions of release were set to present a case to the court, but Anderson said that without the necessary evidence, a judge would likely dismiss the case.
Since the deadline has passed, Jones currently has no pending case in the eyes of the court, according to Anderson.
She said the DA's Office has requested both pieces of outstanding evidence and "anticipates moving forward when [it] has a completed case investigation." She said it was unclear if the police department's criminal investigation into the case is ongoing.
KOB has reached out to the Albuquerque Police Department for comment. We'll have more information from them shortly.
UFC stripped Jones of his light-heavyweight title and suspended indefinitely on April 28 for violations of the organization's code of conduct.

I support Karim Zidan so firmly I am willing to buy him a bus ticket to whereever Romero is now so that Zidan can beat the snot out of him and change his ways.
I'm pretty sure a one-way ticket would be all that would be needed.
Anybody else notice how the left is always screaming for Free Speech EXCEPT for when it steps on THEIR toes?
Why is democracy held in such high esteem when it’s the enemy of the minority and makes all rights relative to the dictates of the majority? (Ron Paul,2012)
Most fighters, including Lyoto Machida, fight a weight class smaller because they can't beat Bones Jones. Machida was the 205 pound champion before Jones won the belt and sent every light heavyweight running. Jones put Machita to sleep with a standing choke hold. Watch the fight on YouTube. Bones dropped Machita's lifeless body on the ground like a rag doll, after the ref was smart enough to realize Machita was unconscious. If the ref let the match go any longer, Bones would have killed Machita.
Bones will be past his legal troubles soon. I can only hope he gets his life straight. Once he's back, he'll destroy the 205 pound field like he did before. Pound for pound, Jon is the baddest man on the planet.
