This happened this past week at a park at an elementary school in Rowlett, TX. A 14 year old girl was babysitting her niece when some black hoodlums were offended that they were seated in a 'black' park.

Poster Comment:

Aren't you glad that the Obama is busy cracking down on Confederate flags and memorials? I'm sure that once he's eliminated them that everything will be peaceful and happy. /sarcasm

Oh sure. Ovomit has done so much to improve things in the US /sarcasm !

Too bad the white girl did not have a Glock 21 with a full mag!

I agree, but apparently she's just a 14 year old that was babysitting her niece. The baby got a concussion.

If I had seen something like this, it would have ended differently. My preference is .45 (Long) Colt.

That is a good round, for revolvers. Never owned one.

In revolvers, I like .357, and .44 Magnum

An additional thing that I like about the .45 Colt round is that if the situation ever came up where the Feds were causing it to be extremely difficult to get smokeless, that the casing was originally designed to be perfect for black powder as well.

Of course it would never be my preference, but given the games that Obama has played with ammunition and reloading supplies in the past years, versatility is a plus, IMHO.

Well that is true. But right now today, .45 Colt is expensive, and already in short supply. I will stick with more common rounds.

Very true, I stopped buying factory rounds for the most part a while ago. It's much cheaper to reload. And I wasn't going into advocacy mode, just sharing another bit of trivia as to why I like that particular round.

.357 and .44 Magnum are both excellent rounds, I agree that they're great choices.

And it is a very good point. Just make sure you keep plenty of primers, lead, and black powder on hand. That really is a good advantage.

Indeed so.

After Obama did his antics with ammo supplies years ago, I was careful to stock up on plenty of all of the basics, and if a SHTF scenario ever occurs I can feed both .45 Colt handguns and a Henry Rifle that also uses that round.

Another side issue that I was happy with in many of my purchases was that I did my best to support American products. The Henry is 100% American made, including the raw materials and assembly (with no illegal alien workers). They seem to be a fine company that shares many of my values, so I am happy paying a little bit more for a high-quality gun.

Good for you. How do you like the Henry? The only ones I have seen are the .22's. Have not seen the 45. I have a S&W 629, and a Marlin in .44 mag, so that is my matched pair.

I have the Henry Big Boy in .45 Colt, but they also make it in .44 mag.

It is one of my favorite guns. It is very well-built. The action is smooth and reliable. It fired dead-on target right out of the box. Especially with its' old-style octagon barrel, it is on the heavy side, but the plus with that is that it has very little recoil at all.

It reloads like those .22s, so it's not really made for rapid reloading. But for most situations, if 10 + 1 .45 rounds don't stop whatever you're shooting at, then you're probably in deep doo doo anyway. ;)

Here's a review that I largely agree with, aside from that reviewer had a few problems with his sight and once he had a lever screw slightly loose. I didn't encounter those problems with my particular gun.

LOL, I have to agree.

In my neck of the woods, if I have a serious problem, then I would most likely use either 30-06, .308, 7.62x54, or 12 ga slug. I don't have a 20 mm Vulcan, LOL! I have had an itch for a 45-70. Don't need one, but have had an itch to get one, for some reason.

I just saw that they've added a .45-70 to their offerings in the recent past.

Here's some gun porn to enjoy if you like this style of gun.

Thanks Orthodoxa for posting the video. Sweeeeet. I watched the others. The Henry was really nice, but the Marlin 1895 CB looks like my cup of tea. I like the longer barrel.

That is quite understandable. If you're going to have as much punch as that round provides, then the greater accuracy of a longer barrel makes sense.

In Texas, I don't encounter anything larger than mid-sized game anyway, and in some of the mesquite brush areas of East Texas a smaller carbine suits me fine.
