An NYPD transit cop shot and killed a knife-wielding man who slashed the officer’s neck during a bloody clash in Brooklyn Thursday, officials said.

Officer Filippo Gugliara, 24, was at the Ocean Parkway station on the Q line in Coney Island at 1:15 p.m. when he saw a white-haired man in a purple shirt fighting with a woman in her 70s at the foot of the stairs, police sources said.

Good. Perp got what he deserved, and the cop saved the taxpayers the expense of a trial & incarceration.

Coney Island...

My 'Long time ago' girlfriend had her car stolen
in Coney Island, Brooklyn. I'll never like
the place. (The ex-girlfriend can choke on
it too...)

(It was a mid-80s Buick Regal two-tone silver/black. Nice car.)

What worked for me - 30 years ago - was Bennigan's,
TGI Friday's - and various other local restaurants.
(That - and having the money - of course.)

Now, what works (30 years later) is going to the gym
3 times a week. And fighting to stay under 200 lbs.

It's hard to imagine that I peaked out at around 260 lbs
back then. But I did. Ate a lot of good food too....

It took three yellow journalists to turn a cop nicking his double chin shaving, into an "officer safety" justified homicide.

A pathetic PR release from the FOP.

The story should read that cops are becoming so intimidated to do their job that this cop waited until he was wounded by the attacker to waste him.

The message shown on the CopBlock.org badge, modeled after the Keene, NH police department badge, is absolutely correct: “Shiny badges don’t grant extra rights” to cops. So, don’t you ever-ever try to give a cop any extra rights because attempting to bribe a cop can get you into serious trouble.

Besides, police officers do not require any extra rights to work faithfully and efficiently in partnership with the communities they serve to maintain law and order, protect members of the public and their property, prevent crime, reduce the fear of crime and improve the quality of life for all citizens.

Let me see there are good cops, bad, cops, dumb cops and arrogant cops, it just depends on where you live as to what type you run into on a regular basis.

I live semi out in the country so I fall under the Sheriffs jurisdiction, they all seem to be a bunch of good guys. They patrol my plat at least 3 times a day, do house checks when people are on vacation so forth and so on. They've went as for as closing my side garage access door in the middle of the night that one of the daughters had left open. One day I was out in the yard and one of them pulled up in the driveway to tell me they had closed that door the night before. I just so happened to have Uncle Siggy on my hip, he looked right at it and didn't even bat on eyelash. Just asked what caliber (.45) it was and we ended up talking about our favorite guns.

Now if I lived in town I probably wouldn't open carry cause they seem to fall into the arrogant and dumb categories and I'd probably find myself in jail or maybe worse. What do you really expect from a police department that has lowered it's standards for diversity reasons.

I also remember when I was a kid I had a 68 Plymouth GTX with a 440 Magnum 4 speed setup. I was being stopped in town by this "SAME COP" about every week or so. He would look under my car at the exhaust system and tell me I needed to put longer extensions on it to where it came out past the back bumper, even though it was legal to only have it just past the rear axle. He wasn't writing me tickets just being an annoying phuck. So after the 3rd or 4th time I finally asked him if he was stopping the police chiefs kid for having the same exhaust system (I knew that cause I had helped him install it). He said no and that was the last time he stopped me, I seen him many times after that and he never gave me a second look.

"The story should read that cops are becoming so intimidated to do their job that this cop waited until he was wounded by the attacker to waste him."

That was my first thought.

A good reporter would have keyed on that and asked the cop why he hesitated until he himself was injured. Lack of support from his superiors? Race of the perp? Wanted proof that he feared for his safety?

Nope. This lazy-assed reporter chose the "cop shoots bad guy" easy story.

I agree that there are good cops, bad cops, dumb cops and arrogant cops.

Now if I lived in town I probably wouldn't open carry cause they seem to fall into the arrogant and dumb categories and I'd probably find myself in jail or maybe worse. What do you really expect from a police department that has lowered it's standards for diversity reasons.

I will take your opening objective summation and apply it here….to ask: Why doesn’t your same rational apply to your assumption. You did make assumptions….you used the word “probably” twice. It is a mistake to take standard theories of counterfactual as a statement. This is to say that if it did not happen in A, it would “probably” happen in C….is not relative to any supposition or hypothesis.

There are good cops, bad cops, dumb cops and arrogant cops in the city, the same as there are in the country. It’s depends on the cop….not on the location of the cop.

FYI - I have never experience any problem during the last 40 years with open carry anywhere in Arizona. Of course I don’t carry in locations where no weapons are allowed.

As I would expect of a state where just about everybody there was raised around firearms or using firearms, and where open carry has been the law for quite sometime and now can conceal carry "without" a permit.
