Charleston is reeling today after a gunman walked into a historic South Carolina church and shot 9 unarmed men, women and children. One of the deceased included a church pastor and former state senator. Reports say a little girl witnessed the massacre and played dead to elude the shooter’s attention. The F.B.I. and multiple online reports say the shooter’s name is Dylann Storm Roof, 21. Associated Press reports Police Chief Greg Mullen said he believed the attack at the Emanuel AME Church was a hate crime.

The FBI has named Dylann Storm Roof, 21, of Columbia, South Carolina, as the suspected killer of nine people at a black church in Charleston. Roof was previously arrested on April 26 on a trespassing charge and was awaiting moderation. Roof was also recently arrested for possession of a controlled substance on March 3 in Lexington County. A sparse Facebook page shows an image of Roof in a jacket with the flags of apartheid-era South Africa and Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). Roof's father gave him a .45-caliber pistol for his birthday, according to uncle Charles Cowles. The uncle said he recognized Roof from the police photo and “described him as quiet and soft-spoken,” according to Reuters. Many of his Facebook friends, including those from his high school, are black. The cousin of the church’s pastor who was killed quoted a survivor who said Roof told the church: “I have to do it. You’re raping our women and taking over the country. You have to go.” Charleston police say Roof drove away from the church in a black Hundai, license plate LGF 300. Though I appreciate your Intel, it hardly satisfies our due process requirements. lol if you seek blood that quickly, hope he resists arrest with deadly type force towards LE.
