A Cleveland-based grocery chain has yanked a popular beer after one too many customers complained about its name: Sweet Baby Jesus. The chocolate and peanut butter porter, released two years ago by Baltimore-based DuClaw Brewing Co., started selling in Ohio just two months ago. But now, after hearing from customers who said they were offended by its name, Heinen’s Grocery Store, which has 22 locations in Ohio and Illinois, has pulled it from its shelves, the Baltimore Business Journal reports. Sweet Baby Jesus accounts for about 35 to 40 percent of DuClaw’s total sales, making it the brewery’s most popular beer. “When you push boundaries and try to get one group excited about it, inevitably people are going to get upset on one side or the other,” DuClaw founder Dave Benfield told the Business Journal. He said he’s heard complaints about the name before, but this is the first time the beer has been pulled from an entire chain of stores. “We liked the phrase, which, at least to us, is a phrase of excitement or astonishment,” Benfield said. “It’s not meant to be offensive, it’s not meant to be derogatory. If we thought we’d stepped over the line and offended people, we probably wouldn’t have done it in the first place.” According to the Baltimore Sun, Sweet Baby Jesus was previously pulled from military bases—but typically restocked a few weeks later. The company has received numerous calls and letters about the name, but Benfield is standing by the label, even though it could impede the brewery’s expansion plans into the Midwest market. “We don’t censor ourselves because it might cost us dollars,” he said. Sweet Baby Jesus is still sold in 18 other locations throughout Ohio. DuClaw is working on expanding into other grocery chains, including Harris Teeter and Kroger in North Carolina, Virginia and Kentucky.

People need to toughen up. ISIS gets mad over the same shit. If you are offended, don't buy the beer. This companies freedoms are more important than your weak, pathetic feelings. I'd stop shopping at this chain store, because they caved into the minority... and the weak.
Bingo. No need to boycott the store or the manufacturer. The lack of sales sends the stongest message any manufacturer would understand. Unfortunately, the attitude today is that if some are offended then everyone must pay the price.
No, it won't. The store will benefit from selling its blasphemous beer while the Christians continue to subsidize it. If the merchant thinks it's fine to insult Christians, let them live off the irreligious customers instead. American churches have gotten kicked around enough. It's time to recognize that there's no real tolerance or willingness from the Left or these corporations bent on profits from marketing anti-Christian liquor.
No person, group, religion or race is protected or guaranteed to be not verbally "kicked around" in a FREE SOCIETY. Not one constitutional amendment protects against that. Puh-leeze. What a drama queen. I guess you wanna play Victim Of The Hour because your local grocery might stop selling a blasphemous beer. Hell, if it was a truly worthwhile or original beer, it wouldn't need a blasphemous name to sell it. Suck it up, heathen. Or be prepared support the merchants who sell it along with your fellow-blasphemers. Why should Christians support a store that mocks their religion so that hostile elements like you are free to buy their blasphemy beer conveniently?

I haven't suggested otherwise. Christians are equally free to boycott stores that carry blasphemous products. Freedom: you just don't like it unless you can force Christians to purchase goods from stores with blasphemous goods. So, if a store chose to carry a large selection of dildos and hardcore smut, would Christians have any right not to shop there? After all, those are also perfectly legal products. How about a store that carries a (perfectly legal) Virgin Mary sex doll to sell to the pervs? Should Granny from the local church have any right not to shop there and see that?
I never claimed you did, nor do I deny any group to "boycott". I condemned the store for being weak and caving into your intolerance. My point is we all need to be thicker skinned if you want to hold on to our freedoms. YOU CANT HAVE IT BOTH WAYS (see my original post)
