"(The) trooper had to point out on a map where they were and she realized it, then they had to figure out how to get her home," Francis said.

Since the woman was unable to walk, their only option was to call for an ambulance and they'd have to strap her to a backboard to get her home, then figure out a way to get her scooter to her, Francis said. So instead, the trooper mapped out the route to her home decided to give her a police escort, riding behind her at a very slow speed with his lights on to make sure no one would hit her.

"(The trooper) said he drove her 3 1/2 miles at 6 mph to finally get her home," Francis said.

Francis said the trooper was eager to get the story out as many people who passed them during the escort thought he was trying to pull her over, and photos and videos of the incident were starting to make their way in the social media rounds.

Very nice story. The Trooper is to be commended. He displayed common sense, courtesy, civility, and good service. His Post Commander, fellow Troopers, and all of the citizens of his state should be immensely proud of him.

This Trooper is a wonderful example to all LEO's. Three cheers. Salute !!

I thought so too.

Most officers do something like this many times on their career. It's just never reported. I've helped my communities elderly MANY times

I needed a jump one day. An officer came by and I asked if he would give me a jump. He said he wasn't allowed to. But he gave me a ride home to get my jumper cables so someone else could. That was nice of him.

But when I got in his car. He was like I need your social security number. I was like Shit I hope there isn't anything I should be worried about. There wasn't and he was quite helpful.

Most department policies prohibit jumps from patrol car to disabled motor vehicle. Our patrol vehicles weren't even supplied with cables to ensure the nicest of officers wouldn't do it against policy. Not quite sure why he wanted your SS number. I'll assume he was checking you for wants & warrants, per every departments policy before anyone is transported inside a patrol vehicle... all he needs is your full name and date of birth.

My departments prohibited slim-jiming a car door for people that were locked out. Due to liability. Prior to my hire, the department was sued for damage to the internal lock of a car door (even after they signed a liability waiver)... so the department put a stop to it all together. We called an outside service, at the request of the motorist for a lock-out.

That was exactly the reason. He told me as much.
