They are also standardizing 3d printer support on Windows. The old WYSIWYG for scanners/displays/printers is going 3d. Scan in 3d, edit in holographic 3d, print (or display) your objects in 3d. The most interesting thing Microsoft has done in years. Microsoft has also finally given in on open-source software to a large degree and are contributing open software. They are being much more accommodating to HTML 5 open browser standards and not trying to poison the well with their proprietary IE-only versions of new features, something that has tormented web designers for years. So M$ is no longer the bad guy they once were, apparently realizing that the ill will they have generated will no longer pay off or that they need a break from their usual predatory methods to lull the public into accepting them again.
