  • Spots were based on total revenue from the last year and company's headquarters location
  • Many companies kept 2014 spots, including Verizon in New York
  • West Coast remained unchanged with Chevron, Nike and Costco at top
  • Sprint in Kansas was replaced by Koch Industries, which outdid the phone company's 2014 revenue by $81billion this year

A new map has revealed the richest company in each state based on total revenue from the last year, and Wal-Mart has once again taken the top spot.

The mega retailer, whose headquarters are based in Arkansas, made $485.65billion in revenue this year, up $9billion from 2014.

A number of companies continued their reign in their respective home states, including Verizon in New York (up $7billion for a total of $120.55billion), General Motors in Michigan and FedEx in Tennessee.

2. Texas (Exxon Mobil, $411.93b)

3. California (Chevron, $211.97b)

4. Michigan (General Motors, $155.92b)

9. New York (Verizon, $127.07b)

10. Pennsylvania (AmeriSourceBergen, $119.56b)

The map, created by Broadview Networks, also showed that the West Coast's richest companies stayed exactly the same.

Chevron in California, Nike in Oregon and Costco in Washington all held on to their top spots.

But both Chevron and fellow gas company Exxon Mobil in Texas both saw drops in their revenue.

Chevron fell from $228.84 to $211.97 and Exxon dropped a whopping $27billion to $411.93billion.

Some companies lost their mark on the map completely.

Sprint in Kansas was replaced by Koch Industries, who outdid the phone company's $34.56billion in revenue last year by $81billion more dollars in 2015.

And Sanderson Farms in Mississippi lost its spot to fellow chicken farm Koch Foods.

Apple is in California.
Apple is 5th on the Fortune 500... #4 is Berkshire Hathaway, # 3 is Chevron, #2 is ExxonMobil and numero uno is WalMart.

Some people march to a different drummer - and some people POLKA.

Were Apple to reach that mark, the company's market value would exceed $960 billion. At Tuesday's close, the iPhone maker was more than twice as valuable as longtime rival Microsoft Corp. Exxon Mobil Corp., the world's next-biggest company, has a market capitalization of $385.4 billion.Feb 10, 2015

Where is apple? I thought they were supposed to be the most valuable company on earth.

They used to be headquartered in Cupertino, Ca off of US280 back in the 70s, iirc.

I passed their building twice daily as part of my commute from Milpitas to Palo Alto and back. They were building Macs, Lisas and Apple IIs there, I think.

Lately though, they've been getting a lot of bad international press about the way they do their accounting to avoid taxes.

I suspect they may declare as little profits in the good ol' U of A as they possibly can.

There are three kinds of people in the world: those that can add and those that can't

Or Microsoft (Bellevue, Washington). Apparently, Costco is bigger than M$. Of course, Costco is the Blue state version of Walmart in many ways so maybe it makes sense.
