Bystanders only watch, shouting "f*** the police" and not helping because of recent events involving police in America. Civilians not intervening to help cops in public struggles will only get more common as police make less friends.

The police have made to many enemies, hard to expect anyone who has had a kid beaten, a wife or daughter felt up or beat up, a dog killed, by the police to be expected to do anything to help the police. My fear is that soon, the bystanders will join in, in the beating of police, stripping them and taking their guns, radios, badges, wallets, etc. My warning to the inner city police and rioters, keep it out of rural Maine.
That's when the cops will start carry machine guns as they do in other countries. Nothing tames a crowd like full-auto 7.62X39 FMJ. This asshole doper wasn't fighting the cops for some greater cause. He's an animal who needs to be put down.
Nothing becomes a better prize for a sniper than a nice new full-auto 7.62X39 with ammo. You over estimate the police and underestimate the people, not all cops are or will be subservient to the masters of the oligarchy and not all 310 million legal residents of the US are serfs and slaves.
Pffft! If he can afford a sniper rifle, a scope, a place to train, and the ammo to train with, he can afford a black-market, full-auto AK-47. AND he won't be the subject of a massive manhunt. AND he's better off if caught with a black-market AK-47 on him than a machine gun taken off the body of a dead cop. You post things like "beating of police, stripping them and taking their guns, radios, badges, wallets" and "snipers shooting cops" less like you're afraid they'll happen and more like you hope they do. At least, that's the impression I get.
If indeed that does happen, it will be because cops have brought it upon themselves. They have declared themselves above the law, and cheer-leading sycophants for tyranny like you are only enabling their lawlessness. You're starting to believe your own yellow journalism. Citizens, almost all of them minorities, have become more and more belligerent and disrespectful towards authority over the years. And cops, believe it or not, have become more restrained over the same period. I go back far enough to see these changes -- from my personal life, the stories from friends, and what I have seen and read in the media. Your explanation makes no sense.

The only reason any rational person with a rifle accurate enough to be useful for sniping would even want any sort of AK,full or semi-auto,would be to get it out of the hands of dangerous cretins like cops that would use it to spray bullets into a crowd of innocent people.
