A graduating teen’s father, Henry Walker, shouted: “You did it, baby.” That was enough to have a warrant issued for his arrest. The Mississippi school had asked parents, friends and family to hold their applause until the end. But Walker was so overjoyed that he shouted this cheer out and waved a towel. The crowd was far from angry at him, as his comment drew laughs from the crowd. That was all there was to it. There was no interference with the graduation ceremony, just a proud father who couldn’t contain his pride in his daughter. The Mississippi family was shortly thereafter kicked out of the graduation ceremony. But as surprising as that reaction was, they were even more floored when they were charged with disturbing the peace. Superintendent Jay Foster defended the police state response, saying that he had warned audience members to hold their cheers until all names had been called. Local WREG-TV reports that Ursula Miller admitted that she too had called out the first name of her niece, Lanarcia Walker during the graduate’s walk across the stage at Senatobia High School. For that “crime” she is now being charged too. About a week after the ceremony, the family was informed that there is a warrant out for each of their arrests. Superintendent Jay Foster filed disturbing the peace charges against all of them. “It’s crazy,” Walker exclaimed. “The fact that I might have to bond out of jail, pay court costs or a $500 fine for expressing my love – it’s ridiculous man. It’s ridiculous.” “I can understand they can escort me out of the graduation, but to say they going to put me in jail for it,” Miller added. “What else are they allowed to do?” Watch the local video from WREG-TV… If you agree that this is ridiculous then help us SPREAD THE WORD and hold the police and this superintendent accountable for their bullying this family! What an officiously petty little prick. Welcome to Police State Amerika, where unbridled joy in your child's achievement is a now a crime.

Seems like a bit of an over reaction to me. Can't have that.
If this article reported ALL of the story, then I'll agree that criminal charges for cheering at a public event where cheering wasn't allowed during the awards handout (just like every graduation I've attended) is an OVER REACTION, ridiculous and a waste of LE time. Evicting them from the event is suitable for the animals that refuse to behave outside of a cage. With that said... I DOUBT THIS YELLA WRITTEN ARTICLE CONTAINS ALL YHE FACTS. That's my issue with purposely posting YELLA articles. How do we know they didn't verbally threaten (which is illegal) the event employee that evicted them? That very well could have been what the warrant was for. Again... if it's reported accurately, I agree, the person forcing the charges, needs to put his ego in check... and the administration running the LE agency pressing those charges should have decided not to honor the complaint with an arrest. Hopefully the DA corrects the issue by dropping the charges... proving that our justice system works as designed.

" Agree. But we do not know it was reported inaccurately. My remembrance is that LE may look, and investigate further in a direction based on hunches, assumptions, but should only react based on FACTS.
I'm not trying to be rude, but, do you have any idea how many times Deckard has posted an article and other posters have discovered very important details that were left out of the article to purposely make LE look bad?

A journalist must always report only the facts and never have a personal attitude toward the facts to either spin them or omit some. Most importantly, a journalist must present both sides. Look at how many time the Millers were directly quoted in the article and point to me one place where Senatobia Municipal School District Superintendent Jay Foster was directly quoted. Did we get his side of the story? I fear not. Telling both sides of the story is good journalistic practice. Failing to do that and pushing one side of the story is yellow journalism. Does this answer your question?
