Title: Insane Clown Posse Fans Labeled as “Hate Group” Classified as Criminal Organization by FBI

Picture by Sherri Fadil Montgomery, Ala. – In a move that can only be described as absurd, and which highlights the extreme fear-mongering present in American society, last Friday, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) announced that extreme fans of the rap group Insane Clown Posse, known as ‘Juggalos’, would be added as a recognized hate group in 17 states. A Juggalo (male) or Juggalette (female) is the label given to fans of the rap group Insane Clown Posse, commonly referred to as ICP. The Southern Poverty Law Center has classified Juggalo’s as a hate group among 17 states including the entire Midwest (North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio), along with California, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, and Oregon, according to The New York Times. If you think this sounds like news straight out of the Onion, you’re not alone. But sadly this is not satire. In fact, as ridiculous as it sounds, the Juggalos were classified by the FBI in 2011 as a criminal organization. ICP sued the FBI regarding the classification but lost the lawsuit. It must be noted that no organized crime specialists we spoke with, relayed to the Free Thought Project the potential threat of Juggalo violence as being a priority in their city. That is not what the SPLC would have you believe though, as they claim that Juggalos display a gang like mentality similar to the Latin Kings, Bloods, KKK or Hells Angels. In a laughable display, the Southern Poverty Law Center has published a list of potential indicators of being a Juggalo/Juggalette and has asked citizens to be on the lookout for anyone displaying these characteristics. • Wearing face paint, typically like a clown, but often as a corpse. The SPLC encourages people noticing anyone exhibiting the above behaviors to call the FBI’s electronic tip hotline. Think about that for a moment. Here would be a potential call to the FBI hotline. “Yeah FBI… there are some kids in my alley with hatchet hats and their faces painted, drinking Faygo cola, listening to ICP, going whoop whoop and throwing up the ‘wicked clown’. I need assistance immediately!” This is the level of absurdity to which our government has risen. They have criminalized an entire fan base with a blanket label over anyone displaying typical rabid fanatic behavior… hence the term fan, short for fanatic! The implication that any of the aforementioned features have anything to do with gang/organized crime membership or being part of a hate group is patently ludicrous! If someone engages in illegal behavior, perhaps they deserve to be held accountable for that action. The idea that we can judge and classify a group of people, based on a few arbitrary stylistic details, is completely unjust and should be shunned societally. When we start criminalizing entire groups of musical fans, rather than identify and punish specific deserving individuals, we tread dangerously close to a fascist state. • Wearing a hatchet logo on their clothing, hats, or jewelry.
• Making or responding to a ‘whoop whoop’ call.
• Obsessed with murder committed with a bladed weapon.
• Drinking and spraying their enemies with Faygo (an inexpensive soda).
• Listening to the Insane Clown Posse or any other horrorcore rap music.
• Doing their hair in a spider web style such as the members of the Twiztid group.
• Displaying their gang sign, the wicked clown – the Westside sign with the left hand and the C sign with the right hand – arms crossed over.

And here I was thinking the Insane Clown Posse was a group of Freepers who joined together to try to destroy any web site deemed to be a threat to FR.
