To: misterwhite (#2) There is no such thing as being "gay". It is a construct to shovel behavior into a physical reality. As being a "farmer" does not make one any different than a "lawyer" other than job definition. Being "gay" means the person is no different than "straight" or "bi". Engaging in sodomy, a man "lying with" another man as he would a woman, is a sin. Sin leads to the second death, judgement from our Creator. The Pastor was correct, of course his words also condemned him, and he surely knew that. What he did was no different than an "alcoholic" counseling another to quit drinking. As to responsibility, the minister did ask the mother not to support her son's homosexuality. So I'd conclude that she does bear responsibility for his depression and suicidal thoughts.
