To: Pericles (#1) The train was doing a legal 80 mph approaching the curve. The curve had a speed limit of 50 mph. I wonder if the engineer accidently accelerated instead of decelerated. To: misterwhite (#2) He could have been in that trance like state you can get when following a line - you are in a hypnotic state and it could hit as you are slowly accelerating and before you know it you are going too fast to slow down. That is why computers should take over rail engineering. It's on rails - not a highway with bobbing and weaving traffic to worry about. We don't need humans anymore to drive these things.
