"Draw Mohammad" contest sponsored by neocon network propagandizing for war
The group responsible for the Draw Muhammad event in Garland, Texas is part of a larger network of neocon organizations working behind the scenes to stoke tension between Muslims, Christians and Jews.
Daniel Pipes Middle East Forum (MEF) funds David Horowitzs Freedom Center which in turn funds Pamela Geller and Robert Spencers American Freedom Defense Initiative.
MEF is closely linked to the Washington Institute for Near East Policy (WINEP), where Pipes was an adjunct scholar. WINEP is a spin-off the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, one of the more influential advocacy groups in the United States dedicated to promoting Israeli policies in Washington, including confronting Iran and Arab nations opposed to Israel and its policies in regard to the Palestinians.
Additionally, MEF is linked to the American Enterprise Institute, a think tank that played an instrumental role in promoting the invasion of Iraq. Its board of trustees is a virtual whos who of the financial and corporate elite. Former Vice President Dick Cheney, who led the propaganda charge into the lead up to invasion and its disastrous result more than a million dead Iraqis figures prominently on the board.
According to research conducted by The Center for Media and Democracy, MEF and other neocon groups receive funding through Donors Capital Fund, a shadowy 509(a)(3) organization that has created a murky money maze for the neocon and other corporate and financial class projects. The twin Donors organizations are advertised as a way for very wealthy people and corporations to remain hidden when funding sensitive or controversial issues, creating a lack of accountability, writes Andy Kroll.
The MRF board of directors include a number of prominent neocons in addition to Daniel Pipes, including William Kristol, Laurent Murawiec (connected to war party corporation, RAND), Meyrav Wurmser (co-founder of the Israeli propaganda unit, MEMRI), Judith Miller (who sold lies about Iraqs nonexistent WMDs via The New York Times) and others.
The attack in Garland that wounded a security guard in the foot will be used by neocons in the media to further portray Muslims as a threat to the national security of the United States and as a propaganda piece to inflate the war on terror.
Pam Geller has predictably used the attack by a man under surveillance by the FBI as a rallying call for war. This is the Sharia, she told Fox News. This is the blasphemy laws under the Sharia. They mean to impose it people better wake up to whats going on and start taking back their freedom, start fighting back.
So are you saying that you're unconcerned that in America that Mohammedans would show up at an art event heavily armed with the intent of killing the participants, but more concerned that the event was organized by neo-con warmongers?
I live near where this happened. I didn't go to it, it doesn't float my boat. But in America we're supposed to have freedom of speech.
I would think that since you seem to be so fervently libertarian in your politics, that you would support free speech as well.
The terrorists made a crucial mistake. They didn't realize that here in Texas, just about everyone and their grandma packs heat -- aside from recent immigrants from Marxist parts of the country.
So an ordinary traffic cop stopped them cold with a handgun.
They weren't stopped by the TSA, the DHS, FBI, ATF, or any of the other alphabet soup bureaucracies. They were stopped by just a low-level Texas cop with his sidearm.
If you oppose foreign wars, well in my opinion one of the best ways to avoid war is for the enemy to realize that they have no chance of ever beating us. If they see their "mujahideen" being popped and dropped by ordinary Americans before they so much as have a chance to shout "Allahu Akhbar", then that's awesome, IMHO.
Let's have more art contests, just remember to have them in states where the folks there will be ready to defend themselves instead of liberal enclaves.
The terrorists normally have the advantage in so far as they usually choose to strike where it is not expected. Events like these draw the terrorists out of the woodwork and then they can be dispatched by prepared participants. Hooray!
Good post, Orthodoxa. Keep in mind, hondo is a "good guy." He brings excellent points to the forum; in fact, your questions are absolute proof.
Thanks, and I like Hondo and his posts too.
I just think that we need to keep things in perspective.
If the neo-cons say that we need to topple Assad in Syria, I'll be the first to agree with Hondo that they are crazy and acting against America's interests.
But this was an art contest in America. If we aren't free to speak freely here in Texas, then we've already lost. If jihadis want to try to stop us from freely speaking our mind here, then they'd better be ready to see some more chalk outline artwork on our sidewalks.
There's a reason why Ron Paul won so many elections here in Texas. We get angry when the establishment tells us to sit down and shut up. And what's funny is that here in the Metroplex, all of the establishment GOP radio hosts have been continuously bleating that it was "foolish of them to provoke the Muslims".
Nope. Like I posted above, it's only "foolish" if people organize and attend events like that and aren't prepared to defend themselves. If they've prepared and the Muzzies show up -- well, in this part of Texas its popular to lay out some bait for wild hogs and then just shoot 'em when they show up on your property. If the Mohammedans want to join 'em, well so be it.
