In a comment to Sputnik Business Insider apologized for including Russia's WWII monument The Motherland Calls in a list of the "most absurd Soviet-era buildings that are still standing." It has since been deleted from their list after being featured for what they describe as "a brief period." It's even more ridiculous than the Statue of Liberty. Who designs these things? Ukraine has one in Kiev that is even dumber. Stainless steel, 203 feet.

Well, this Russian statue is much higher than the French one ;) But I see nothing wrong esthetically with either. Neoclassicism as well as Socialist Realism are legitimate historic styles. What style in sculpture is more to your liking? Or can you show an example of a monument you like? What about this?
I can't think of any megastatues that I ever thought were worth looking at. They're all ass-ugly. For that matter, most small statues are ugly too.

Actually the statue is known as Mother Russia. The round building contains their tomb of the unknown soldier.
