A small patch of terrain in Google Maps just south of the Pakistani city of Rawlpindi has been found to contain a bizarre image of the Android robot urinating on the Apple logo. The image, apparently an Easter egg added by a Google employee or data provider, remains visible on Google Maps itself. While some parts of Google’s mapping data are user-editable, the base terrain information isn’t, suggesting that whoever inserted the image has privileged access – and perhaps thought it wouldn’t be found. Unsurprisingly, the real terrain underneath bears no resemblance to the picture, (loosely) adapted from a famous bootleg of Bill Watterson’s newspaper strip Calvin and Hobbes. And just a few miles east, another treat lies buried: Which wag is inserting these treats into the mapping data? How has Google not spotted them before now? When will they be removed? Google was unable to comment by press time – if you know the answers, or find another example, leave a comment below.

The location is 20 miles south of Islamabad, Pakistan. If you zoom in too far, it disappears but they haven't removed it yet. Lots of people and different companies do have access to the add-ons database, not just Google employees.
