US-admits-marijuana-kills-cancer

The National Institute on Drug Abuse, a US federal government research institute whose mission includes “bringing the power of science to bear on drug abuse and addiction,” has officially admitted that marijuana extracts can kill cancer cells.

RT.com

The institute has revised a page on its website entitled “DrugFacts: Is Marijuana Medicine?” citing a recent study conducted by a group of scientists at St. George’s University, London.

“Recent animal studies have shown that marijuana extracts may help kill certain cancer cells and reduce the size of others,”
the NIDA report stated, adding that evidence from “one cell culture study suggests that purified extracts from whole-plant marijuana can slow the growth of cancer cells from one of the most serious types of brain tumors.”

The study, published in the Molecular Cancer Therapeutics journal in November, discovered that cannabis helps “dramatically reduce” the growth of new brain cancer cells.

“The benefits of the cannabis plant elements were known before but the drastic reduction of brain cancers if used with irradiation is something new and may well prove promising for patients who are in gravely serious situations with such cancers in the future,” Dr Wai Liu, Senior Research Fellow and lead researcher on the project, said.

Twenty-three US states have so far legalized marijuana in some capacity, while an additional 12 have legalized limited medical use of non-psychoactive cannabis extracts. Four states and the District of Columbia have legalized recreational marijuana. The federal government still bans marijuana use, however.

In December when Congress passed a historic medical marijuana amendment as part of the federal spending bill, the move marked the first time in history that Congress approved legislation rolling back the federal government’s war on medical marijuana patients and providers. The bill features an amendment that prohibits the Department of Justice (which includes the Drug Enforcement Administration) from using funds to interfere with state medical marijuana laws.

Earlier this week the Justice Department (DOJ) released a statement that while it will not stop states that allow medical marijuana from carrying out their programs, it will still go after marijuana users, however.

“Consistent with the Department’s stated enforcement priorities, we don’t expect that the amendment will impact our ability to prosecute private individuals or private entities who are violating the Controlled Substances Act,”
Department spokesman Patrick Rodenbush said in a statement, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Policy manager at the Drug Policy Alliance, Malik Burnett, told VICE News that NIDA’s recent admission about the efficacy of medical marijuana, coupled with the US Department of Justice’s vow to continue cracking down on the drug, is akin to a “major hypocrisy” by the government.

“We have the Justice Department continuing to threaten patients with arrest and prosecution in spite of the fact that Congress has voted to prevent the Justice Department from interfering with states that have passed medical marijuana laws,” Burnett said.

“These are all just parts of the major hypocrisy within the federal government when it comes to the issue of marijuana.”

I used Apricot Kernels to cure my cancers. I did not hide it from anyone, as a matter of fact I told the surgeon, the cancer guys and nurses that I would not use chemo, that I would only use B17.

I am not in jail, I have not been threatened, I am starting to think that the US g0v is no longer going to be the enforcement dept for big pharma when it comes ot cancer.

As a matter of fact, I posted exactly what I did here on LF.

Many things are capable of killing a cancer cell. That's the easy part. Chemotherapy kills cancer cells... but I'm not sure that toxic mixture should be sold in dime bags on street corners.

I bet the writter of this article, if told he had leukemia, he'd opt for the conventional treatment... instead of a Cheech & Chong sized doobie 20 times a day... which means his article isn't about medical breakthroughs... it's a legalized drug indoctrination of the readers.

What's that called again?.... Oh yeah, YELLOW.

And I'm a supporter of legal weed.

instead of a Cheech & Chong sized doobie 20 times a day.

If you bothered to pay attention, it's not smoking it, it's eating cannabinoids that does the trick

it's a legalized drug indoctrination of the readers.

What do you call this then, from the National Institutes of Health?

Antitumor activity

Studies in mice and rats have shown that cannabinoids may inhibit tumor growth by causing cell death, blocking cell growth, and blocking the development of blood vessels needed by tumors to grow. Laboratory and animal studies have shown that cannabinoids may be able to kill cancer cells while protecting normal cells.

A study in mice showed that cannabinoids may protect against inflammation of the colon and may have potential in reducing the risk of colon cancer, and possibly in its treatment.

A laboratory study of delta-9-THC in hepatocellular carcinoma (liver cancer) cells showed that it damaged or killed the cancer cells. The same study of delta-9-THC in mouse models of liver cancer showed that it had antitumor effects. Delta-9-THC has been shown to cause these effects by acting on molecules that may also be found in non-small cell lung cancer cells and breast cancer cells...MUCH MORE http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/pdq/cam/cannabis/patient/page2

No matter how many times some people are told, they will never believe it, because they bought the original lies.

YOU WERE LIED TO about pot. Wanna bet that's the only lie you have been told by your government?

Interesting article. I wonder if anyone has conducted research on cancer rates with respect to GenerationX in regards to pot usage? I would suspect that those older folks that may have used a reefer or a bong would be relatively cancer free to the population at large.

US Government Admits Marijuana Kills Cancer Cells

Judging by the behavior of people who use it recreationally to any extent, it also kills brain cells.

"US Government Admits Marijuana Kills Cancer Cells, But they Still Kidnap, Cage, and Kill You For It"

That is a flat-out lie. That is not what was said.

The website cited a study saying, "Research in mice showed that treatment with purified extracts of THC and CBD, when used with radiation, increased the cancer-killing effects of the radiation (Scott, 2014)".

"Purified extracts" of the cannabinoids THC and CBD found in marijuana. How many thousand of joints would you have to smoke in one session to get the same amount of cannabinoids into your system?

Nothing I can do will hurry that time or slow it down,
for I belong to Him.

My Dad didn't try to slow or hasten - but he did take
a lot of vitamins. So I guess he did try to 'slow' -
but maybe it was a matter of 'stewardship' of his body.

But the fact is - he knew that it was coming soon - very soon.
In September of last year he told me:

"The next time I go into a hospital, I'm not coming out.
Just letting you know."
He knew.

Two weeks later he came out to the kitchen table and told my Mom -

"Take me to the hospital."

Two weeks in the hospital, a week in the hospice - and that was it.
Morphine injections, and then a morphine drip the whole time.
Three types of cancer - prostrate, lung, stomach.
October 8, 2014.

I'm sorry if I've told you this before - I'm still getting over it.

The man was 89 - three and a half months short of 90.

May you be well!

I am happy for him.

He was a Born Again Christian only since sometime after he
got back from WW2 - (which was a bit ago).
(He was a south Pacific Marine.)

I'm happy for him too.
He could not breathe very well for years.
He didn't like it. He's better off now.

Just to be accurate -

He started smoking cigarettes at age 15.
He quit at age 75 - when he had the quad bypass surgery.
He lived to almost 90. (60 years.)
So yeah - God was looking over him the whole way, IMO.

When our dads pass away it is a hard time for sons. We learned from them, and later in life realized their sacrifices for us and appreciate them. My dad passed over two years ago now. What lingers is knowing we are now passed the torch.

Not really. The Boomers were the first generation to use pot for recreational purposes. They are now old and get cancer just like any other person their age who did not use pot nor smoked.

What lingers is knowing we are now passed the torch.

One more thing that has hurt me about this is that I
am not particularly close to my second cousins -
especially Brian - who is ten.

It's not that I don't love the kids - it was a question
of me working so much that I didn't take or have the time
to spend. So I didn't know that Brian's dad (my first
cousin) and Brian's mom took the boy over to my parent's
house often and he got pretty close to them.

So when Brian was told that his 'Great Uncle Jack' was gone,
he burst into tears and refused to be comforted.
THAT is what hurts me - I can't comfort him either -
and how can I ever replace Great Uncle Jack?
I can't. Except to be there for the boy if and when he
needs me. But I'm just a second cousin who never was around.

What did George Washington mean in his diary where, on 7 (August 7, 1765), it clearly reads "began to separate the male from the female .. bit to late"?

I should have been more specific. The majority of chemo patients I met were from the Boomer generation.

I took it a matter of age and not what they did or did not smoke or ingest.

The National Institute on Drug Abuse, a US federal government research institute whose mission includes “bringing the power of science to bear on drug abuse and addiction,”has officially admitted that marijuana extracts can kill cancer cells.

The headline is a bold face lie!

NIDA in no way “has officially admitted that marijuana extracts can kill cancer cells.”

NIDA simply stated that a new study funded by a research grant awarded to W.M. Liu from GW Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Salisbury, United Kingdom, found that marijuana may help fight brain tumors. The Liu study found it “may” have found … NIDA “officially admitted” nothing.

The author took a tidbit of information and “spun it” to imply that NIDA had acknowledged that marijuana may help fight brain tumors when NIDA made NO SUCH acknowledgement. The W.M. Liu report acknowledged that….NIDA did NOT acknowledge that.

The third time: NIDA did not acknowledge that marijuana may help fight brain tumors….the W.M. Liu report (in no way associated with NIDA) acknowledged that marijuana may help fight brain tumors.

Potheads with their manic behavior are so desperate they will grasp at anything to promote their cause, but outright lying with articles empty of facts is a bad thing.

Gawd….I hate that all potheads can do is consistently post yellow journalism. Stop doing it!

"In his diary for August 7, 1765, Washington writes, “Began to separate the Male from the Female hemp … rather too late.” Female marijuana plants are the ones that contain enough THC to be worth smoking. Some take this to mean Washington was cultivating the plant not just for fiber."

"Of course, two days later Washington says he put the hemp in the river to soak and separate out the fibers, and later in September that he started to harvest the seed."

"That suggests he divided the plants because the males made stronger fiber while the female plants produced the seed needed for the next year's crop. Jefferson in his Farm Book wrote that a female plant would produce a quart of seed, and a bushel of seed was enough to plant an acre."

Here's a photo of Washington's diary. Note the entry for August 9th, two days later.
