Title: Hot new liberal theory: Memories Pizza orchestrated this fiasco because they wanted the online donations Source:

It adds up. ABC57 reporter Alyssa Marino walks through the door of the pizzeria during a Category Five news-storm over RFRA and asks, Anyone here got a problem with catering gay weddings? The pizzeria employees slink away, knowing what a yes would mean for their careers. But not Memories CEO Crystal OConnor. As usual, shes one step ahead of the game. Instantly she recognizes that if she says yes to Marino, the left will go apesh*t, flooding her business with crank calls, death threats, and nasty online reviews. The business will close temporarily. And then enraged conservatives will rally to her side, showering her with solidarity cash beyond her wildest small-town dreams. The GoFundMe take as I write this: $528,000 and counting. Its a scam, engineered by an unassuming but quietly brilliant pizza-shop owner whose ability to anticipate partisan strikes and counterstrikes really should have her in charge of a Fortune 500 PR company. Coming soon: The Barbara Walters interview and then a bestselling book. Shell retire by 40. Watch the clip below and youll see what I mean. No one as slick and comfortable on camera as OConnor is could have possibly stumbled innocently into this culture-war clusterfark. Shes the Gone Girl of religious liberty.
Or, alternate theory: The more excitable members of the lefts gay-marriage mob cant cope with how this Two Minutes Hate for OConnor and her business played out. So, as conspiracy theorists are wont to do, theyre reaching for an explanation that makes them feel better about it. What I cant figure out is whether its malice or actually some vestigial pangs of remorse about the mob atmosphere that are driving the conspiracy. Maybe theyre angry that the family hasnt been utterly ruined for their thoughtcrime or maybe on some level they think, but cant bring themselves to admit, that people shouldnt be ruined for politely dissenting from the new norm on gay marriage. If OConnor is some grifter mastermind who engineered this debacle for the money then theres really no need to feel bad about the abuse shes taken. She wanted it. Shes making bank off it. The left did her a big favor. In fact, I ran across three examples on Twitter in the past 24 hours of liberals insisting that some or all of the abuse OConnor and her business have taken is actually the handiwork of homophobic right-wing mobys eager to drum up sympathy for her. The Truther theory is of a piece with that. At some point today, rest assured, OConnor herself will be accused of trolling her own Yelp page.
Nah. Theyre just bummed that she hasnt been ruined. Cheer up, though: Per Rick Wilson, eventually some extra-virtuous SJW somewhere will end up shooting a gay-marriage opponent in the face for his sins. If you think the current Trutherism is zesty, wait til you see what it looks like after that.
Homosexuals everywhere are stamping their widdle feet.
And tons of small business owners are gnashing their teeth, trying to figure out how they can win the pro-gay or anti-gay lottery like Memories Pizza did. Like those sausage guys in Willie's newer thread.
Probably there's only one winning ticket in that lottery.

The sausage guys are in Chicago, not in Indiana. Attention whores, looking for free advertising. And it seems to have worked as they were featured in a puff piece in a major metro paper. Unfortunately, the pic of the owners and two workers with scruff-beards probably negates the free PR they got.

Scruff-beards are 'in' dude:)
However too itchy for me. Like most retired Army I tried the beard thing for almost two weeks. I came home from work one night and Mrs. RLH had a new can of shaving cream and razors ready for me. Message recieved:)
When you have to be clean shaven for over 25 years daily (weekend beards were frowned upon in the officer corps), it is the first thing male soldiers want to experiment with.
Some go 'full Robertson' with the beards. Have one co-worker retired Scout NCO from TN who looks the spitting image of GEN Robert E. Lee with beard and all.
The routine at the morning coffee pot is "Good morning Yank!" and I reply "General Lee my pleasure!"
Something big now is the shaved head with full "Mike Napoli" beard.
Other such 'fads' over the years with both military and civilian friends has been the "March Madness mustache." The Latino and Italian fellas always win those competitions.

It's the Von Mises Institute and Lew's stable of Rothbardian libertarian writers. He founded the institute after he left politics, having been Ron Paul's chief of staff for some years. When Rand interned at his dad's congressional office back in the Eighties, Ron and Rand and Lew rode to work together.
Not to prattle on too much but I thought you might not know these old connections.

I'm waiting for the inevitable attention whore gay couple to show up and demand that they cater some pizza at their Big Gay Wedding.
Somebody is always after a 15 minutes of fame on Teh Interwebs to make them feel special.
These donation campaigns are a scam. I am reminded of this femenist who wanted to raise money to study female video game portrayals and said some inflamatory thing that angered video gamers and predictably she was attacked and she raised a few hundred thousand dollars from feminists who rushed to her defense.
It is a scam and I wish I thought of it first.
Did this place even offer catering services in the first place? Does anyone know if donations are pre-paid or pledges? He is almost a millionare over this.

Just a storefront pizza place in some old store built in the Forties. 10 booths or less. AFAIK, they haven't ever catered an event and they do pickup orders but not delivery.
Most of these donation sites take a few percent for the service and they hold the money until the fundraiser period ends and then transfer the funds. They do get some use of the funds for short-term interest which helps their bottom line.
With modern charities and profits, you always need to look for their interest income. Most of them are really scammy about when and how they actually pay off. And I've yet to see a charity or fundraiser site that includes the interest when the payout comes. They seem to always keep that.
What self-respecting homosexual would serve pizza at their wedding
A couple that like the pepperoni
Every society gets the kind of criminal it deserves. What is equally true is that every community gets the kind of law enforcement it insists on. Robert Kennedy
Of course you would; You believe capitalism is a "scam." As well as a "Republic."

Lol, chyeah. We all remember that quite well. OH WAIT. We don't hang out at HuffPo. Nice try.

THE perfect graphic.
Glad the pizzeria re-opened. But what's the Under/Over for a brick getting tossed thru the storefront? (I's handicap that number at 7 days.) OR, yet -- what are the Under/Over odds of another curious "request" for catering another Big Gay Wedding?
Tons of small business owners are gnashing their teeth, trying to figure out how they can win the pro-gay or anti-gay lottery like Memories Pizza did.
Do you really believe that? Especially on the heels of recent federal prosecution, destruction of business, and debts incurred by both a Bakery and Florist? I don't believe this for a nanosecond.
*Might* there a few businesses trying to exploit the same situation to the same financial end? Perhaps, so few that it's inconsequential. This angle promoted by the Left's social media is just the usual red herring advanced by Left/Homo fascists who refuse to accept humiliating defeat.
Bottom line: This story is just more propaganda, intended to discredit 'Memories Pizza.' The REAL story is one of Unintended Consequences and unexpected blowback of Gay Social and Mainstream Media Brownshirts and buillies.
OR, yet -- what are the Under/Over odds of another curious "request" for catering another Big Gay Wedding?
They could just tell a little white lie and say "sorry, we are catering a 'Hands up don't shoot' cop hater event that day."
That would put the liberal pressers in a roil as they would have to decide which lobby group has priority...

Heh -- Wifey gave you two weeks, then out came the Noxema and Bic?? You coulda been a contenduh and didn't even know it. But I can see how 25 years of clean shaving becomes a habit and who "you" are.
Yeah, it's itchy at first (been rockin' variations for 40 years)....but beyond the stylish scruff there's Rollie Fingers, Al Hrabowsky to Mike Napoli to everything in between.
Give it another shot again....and tell Mrs. Red to pick one:
She might surprise you by opting for bottom shelf, second from the left.

Lol...imagine the media confusion and headlines? Gotta address it sumpin' like that...
I think you're onto something. Our side has to answer "GOTCHA!" questions by ridiculing the question and questioner with dismissive attitudes, challenge the interviewer's sanity, sobriety, and intelligence, then give total tongue-in-cheek answers. Chris Christie executes this plan pretty good.
Might have to try the well extended mutton chops next time:) But then my barber of 10 years would flip out.
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead (1 Peter 1:3)
I've had the same one off and on since 1978. He was my barber before I enlisted, cut my hair while I was home on leave and full time since I came back in 2000.

From what I heard earlier today the pizzeria is giving all the money to charity.
