When one man sat down next to a second man in a St. Louis light rail car late Monday and asked him his opinion on the shooting of Michael Brown, it was not the beginning of a discussion. It was the start of an assault, police said. The second man, who was white, didn’t want to answer the question. Then the first man, who was black, boxed him in the face. Two more African-American men joined in the beating, according to a police report. It was caught on surveillance cameras on the MetroLink train and a passenger recorded it with a cell phone and posted the video online. It has gone viral. Police confirmed to CNN affiliate KMOV that the online images came from Monday’s attack. Late commute The victim, 43, was commuting home when a young man in a red T-shirt and cap walked up to him. The victim asked not to be named in media reports. The man asked to use the victim’s cell phone. He declined, and the young man sat down beside him. “Then he asked me my opinion on the Michael Brown thing,” the victim told KMOV, “and I responded I was too tired to think about it right now.” The suspect, in his twenties, stood up. “The next thing I know, he sucker punches me right in the middle of my face,” the victim said. The video showed the suspect unleashing a barrage of punches at the head of the victim, who covered himself with his hand and forearms. The two other men, also in their twenties, joined in, police said. As the train pulled into a station, a security guard saw part of the beating and alerted police. The man in the red T-shirt could be seen on video kicking at the victim’s face before the train’s doors opened and the assailants ran out. Faces on camera The train’s surveillance cameras captured clear images of their faces, which MetroLink passed on to journalists. Police are looking for the three men. They face possible charges of third-degree assault, police said. It is a misdemeanor under Missouri law. The victim was left with bruises on his face and forehead, police said. The first punch dug the frame of his eyeglasses into the skin of his nose, the victim said. He declined to receive medical treatment. But then there was the emotional pain. On the video, people could be heard laughing while the man was beaten. “I think it was disgusting that people were sort of laughing and smiling about it,” the victim said. “And no one offered to help. No one seemed to call 911.” Condemnation of the beating has spread across social media, including from people who protested the shooting of Brown last year by a white police officer in Ferguson, Missouri. The officer was not indicted in Brown’s death. St. Louis alderman Antonio French, a vocal community leader in the aftermath of Ferguson, tweeted his disappointment in the beating. “Mike Brown question sparks MetroLink beating caught on video,” he wrote. “This is disgusting. We have a major problem, STL.”

Ok,what I am going to have to say here ain't going to be popular,but here goes. The white puss deserved to get the snot beat out of him because he sat there like a little punk crying for him mommy while the black thug wannabes hit him with all the power of a 12 year old Girl Scout. I could maybe see it if the guy had given him a serious smack hard enough for a minor concussion,but all that would have done to me would have been to piss me off and make me want to kill you. White people,listen up! Blacks and browns are going to keep beating the snot out of you for no reason at all other than they can for EXACTLY as long as you continue to let them do it,while whimpering and begging for more. I can guarantee you that even as old and crippled up as I am,if that SOB had hit me like he hit that punk sitting in the seat,he wouldn't have hit me twice before he was on his way to the ER to get his nuts put in a sling,and at least one of his eyes put back in the socket. I can guarantee you that if that had happened the first 30 seconds of the assault,the other two cowards would have been looking out the window and hoping nobody would beat on them instead of jumping in. And "No,I ain't playing at being a tough guy". You are sitting down with an open area in front of you,and this bozo comes up and starts punching on you at a level where all you have to do to take out his nuts is to punch straight forward,and after that you OWN his ass so you might as well use a thumb to gouge the MoFo's eye out while you are at it so he can scream loud enough to impress his bros so they hear their mama's calling. And all that is if I don't just shoot him and be done with it. White people start doing that and non-white people will stop attacking you for no reason. On the other hand,they will continue to attack you as long as there is no down side for them.

The event was completely planned right up to the moment of exit. The other thugs were nothing more than "backup" for any struggle. The timing was all about exiting without being confronted. You wouldn't have had a chance in HELL to save your skin.
You're probably right. They were looking for a white guy that looked harmless,and used the Michael Brown thing as an excuse to cry "white racism" if they get arrested. You wouldn't have had a chance in HELL to save your skin. Yeah,I would have. The guy is a pretty good dancer,but he hits like a little girl,and I AM a guy that fights back and who doesn't hit like a little girl.
In a situation like this, what should we produce? A loaded gun or a Bible? Or was there enough time?
I guess that depends on who you are and how you think. Do you really think that guy hits hard enough to to anything other than piss you off? I've had people hit me so hard they spun me around,and I knocked them on their asses right after that.
In a situation like the article, there would be no time for an aggressive act even for defensive purposes. The thugs planned the confrontation based on an exit scheme. It is a problem with publick transportation; I wager that victim will no longer take the train.

Of course there was. The guy getting hit could have used a knife hand to the attackers nuts at any time the guy was dancing around in front of him. If the other guy has time to hit you,you have time to hit the other guy back. Just be serious about hurting him when you do. After that he would have OWNED the MoFo,and his two "pals" would have sat down and been as quiet as church mice once they saw the guy had the ability and the will to defend himself. A friend and I mistakenly walked into a "black bar" in VN in 1969. We were in town to buy stuff at the PX,and were just looking for a cool beer or two before heading back to the camp. We had no idea it was a "black bar" and wouldn't have given a damn if we had known. Everything stopped when we walked up to the bar and ordered beer,and the natives started getting restless and mumbling "kill honkie" crap. That's when we started pulling grenades and 45 autos out of our pockets and smiling at them. It was amazing how timid they suddenly became. We managed to finish our beers in peace,and walk out the door with no problems. And "yes,we were prepared to kill everybody in the joint if they pushed it." People don't mob you because they are brave. They do it because they are cowards as individuals,and think they can hurt you with no harm coming their way. Hurt just one of them (preferably the most aggressive) bad enough to be screaming out for his mama,and the rest will back off and shut up.
