A couple of weeks more, and it'll be the first day of April - "April Fool's Day."
Those of us who have been waiting for the Pentagon and Barack Hussein Obama to finally announce the fate of alleged Army deserter Bowe Bergdahl, wonder if the "commander-in- chief" has a special trick or treat in store for us.
We don't want to be pessimistic, but we're afraid he will try and bull his way out of the mess by declaring Bergdahl a "prisoner-of-war," when all evidence points to him being a lowlife deserter.
"He's suffered enough," Bam could piously pronounce and try and tamp down the stink of this horrible "trade" of five Taliban killers for one of the most despised soldiers in U.S. Army history.
The official line on wacko Bowe is "he served with honor and distinction." But we know better, don't we?.
A SHAMEFUL "SWAP"
The parents and loved ones of the soldiers killed in an intensive effort to locate and "rescue" Bergdahl in Afghanistan, have a special interest in how this case turns out.
Look at the photograph accompanying this article, obtained by MilitaryCorruption.com from sources in the war zone. Does Bowe look like he'd just emerged from a torture session, or is he showing that maybe his five-year sojourn with the Taliban wasn't so unpleasant after all? Buggery isn't exactly unknown in that part of the world.
The highly-respected London SUNDAY TIMES has reported Bergdahl converted to Islam during his time away. They quote a former Taliban district leader as saying Bowe adopted the name "Abdullah" and was seen carrying around a rifle amongst his so-called captors. That didn't happen to our real POW's at the Hanoi Hilton.
If we had our druthers, Bergdahl would be court-martialed, busted to private, lose all back pay and allowances, and receive a bad conduct discharge. Maybe six months behind bars, too. But Bam's "image" can't afford to let that happen. So look for the Taliban-seeking sorry-excuse-for- a-soldier to "walk" free and perhaps score a small fortune in doubled back-pay and allowances.
Here's a new recruiting slogan for today's action Army: "Join up, and if you don't like duty in a combat zone, just walk away. Desert. There won't be any consequences. All's forgiven."
