Netanyahu surged ahead after a last-minute lurch to the right in which he opposed Palestinian statehood and vowed continued settlement construction, setting the stage for fresh confrontations with the White House just weeks after criticizing U.S. talks with Iran in a divisive address to Congress. Advertised is a key word as the opposition party had a lot of American money to advertise they were in the 'lead.' Some of the information in their favor came 'free' through the American leftist media. This is just another case of an outbreak of the US 2000 election cycle syndrome known as "Sore-Losermen." {for Gore-Lieberman} Plus Israeli politics are so much more diverse than our two party system. There are over 10 parties which garner seats each election. Which means multiple parties would have multiple representatives at the various polls. But there is sharply rising interest in AlGore and his numbers are skyrocketing, lots of internal party buzz. Gore could take on Xlinton and beat her like a rug.
