President Obama did not issue a formal statement in reaction to the shooting of two police officers in Ferguson, Missouri last night. But he did take time to tweet.
“Violence against police is unacceptable. Our prayers are with the officers in MO,” he wrote on Twitter, signing the message with a personalized “bo.”

The two officers were shot outside the police station after the police chief resigned following a report released by Attorney General Eric Holder that exposed racial prejudice within the department.
Obama highlighted the report during his speech recognizing the 50th anniversary of the Selma to Montgomery marches, calling it a “mistake” to think that events in Ferguson were an “isolated incident.”
“We don’t need the Ferguson report to know that’s not true,” he said. “We just need to open our eyes, and our ears, and our hearts to know that this nation’s racial history still casts its long shadow upon us.”
