11 March 2015-The depot at Kittybrewster will provide fuel for a fleet of ten green buses which hit the streets this year. The £19m scheme has been backed by both the EU and the UK and Scottish Governments.
Aberdeen City Council leader Jenny Laing said: As a leading energy city determined to anchor the renewables industry in the north east, the success of the Aberdeen Hydrogen Bus Project is a real coup.
"We not only have Europe's largest fleet of hydrogen fuel cell buses running on the streets of Aberdeen, but we also have the UK's first and largest hydrogen production and bus refuelling station.
"We have a very clear hydrogen strategy for the future and are on the cusp of realising our aspiration of becoming a world-leading city for low carbon technology, while maintaining our position as a leading world energy city...
May 2014: Hydrogen buses on show for first time at All-Energy
...The Aberdeen City Council-led project, which has backing from Europe, the UK Government and the Scottish Government will deliver a hydrogen infrastructure in Aberdeen in 2014. This will include the production of hydrogen from a 1MW electrolyser and establishing Scotland's first commercial scale hydrogen refuelling system, which will include hydrogen production through electrolysis, in partnership with BOC. Meanwhile, in London:
UK's First Supermarket Hydrogen Filling Station Opens
11 March 2015- The UKs first supermarket-based Hydrogen filling station has opened at a branch of Sainsburys in Hendon, North London.
The new dispenser is one of a network of similar systems being installed across the capital as part of the Innovate UK-funded London Hydrogen Network (LHNE) project.
The 700 bar system, developed by US firm Air Products, is operated in much the same way as a conventional fuel pump, and according to the manufacturer, can refuel a vehicle in less than three minutes...

...Business Minister Matthew Hancock said: Hydrogen cars present us with a huge potential economic opportunity and can bolster our internationally renowned automotive industry. We want to make the UK one of the best places in the world to design, manufacture and sell ultra-low emission vehicles but we need the right infrastructure in place.
The most common way right now is steam reforming of natural gas
Fossil fuels are the dominant source of industrial hydrogen.[4] Hydrogen can be generated from natural gas with approximately 80% efficiency,[citation needed] or from other hydrocarbons to a varying degree of efficiency. Specifically, bulk hydrogen is usually produced by the steam reforming of methane or natural gas.[5] At high temperatures (7001100 °C), steam (H2O) reacts with methane (CH4) in an endothermic reaction to yield syngas.
The Greenest and best way is electrolysis of water. It takes a lot of electricity to do this but Japanese and German scientists and inventors will make the process much more efficient and less costly in the future. If the source of the electricity is wind or solar, after the equipment is paid for the only cost of the hydrogen is water and compression/storage.
Bob Lazar (Art Bell/area 51) explains and demonstrates electrolysis here:
Solar panels are getting cheaper by the week. Solar Hydrogen is the future of energy, because it will be cheap, clean and plentiful. There are 22 Liters of hydrogen in ONE TABLESPOON of water.
Honda has invented a home hydrogen station that doesn't need a compressor
Honda Begins Operation of New Solar Hydrogen Station
The previous solar hydrogen station system required both an electrolyzer and a separate compressor unit to create high pressure hydrogen. The compressor was the largest and most expensive component and reduced system efficiency. By creating a new high differential pressure electrolyzer, Honda engineers were able to eliminate the compressor entirely - a world's first for a home use system... http://world.honda.com/news/2010/c100127New-Solar-Hydrogen-Station/
and they have a solar hydrogen station in operation right now in England that produces 20 tonnes of Hydrogen a year.
Honda opens new hydrogen filling station in Swindon
A solar-powered hydrogen production and filling station facility capable of producing 20 tonnes of hydrogen a year has been opened at Hondas Swindon factory.

Some clowns here (and everywhere else) will say there's no future in Hydrogen but they don't know what they are talking about. Worse, they don't even take the time to do any research for themselves. Arrogance and ignorance combined in a uniquely American way. It's the opposite of what Americans once were.
Inside the Solar-Hydrogen House: No More Power Bills--Ever

EAST AMWELL, N.J.Mike Strizki has not paid an electric, oil or gas billnor has he spent a nickel to fill up his Mercury Sablein nearly two years. Instead, the 51-year-old civil engineer makes all the fuel he needs using a system he built in the capacious garage of his home, which employs photovoltaic (PV) panels to turn sunlight into electricity that is harnessed in turn to extract hydrogen from tap water... http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/hydrogen-house/
Strizki's an expert, if you want to know more search for him on Youtube- he's probably the most knowledgeable person on the topic in the entire country. He sure knows more than the idiots that call people that listen to what he says "fan boys".
