A former Justice Department attorney believes the Obama administration wants the federal government to take control of municipal police departments.
J. Christian Adams was commenting about the recent report from Attorney General Eric Holder – "Investigation of the Ferguson Police Department" – which claims a host of civil rights violations in that Missouri city's law enforcement operations.
Adams, speaking Tuesday morning on American Family Radio, said Holder is using the civil unrest of last summer in Ferguson to enforce a long sought-after agenda of federal control over policing.
"For example, the Justice Department wants to impose federal mandates over the police," said Adams.
"They want the police to do what Washington says. They want the police to hire friends of the Justice Department – people like the Institute on Race and Justice, which is a far-leftwing group in Northeastern University – to basically tell people how to police.
"This is all about moving power, money, and decision-making into Washington, DC, and away from your local police," he concluded.
